World Book Day in P2

We have loved being in our PJs today, we have definitely all been warm.

Earlier this week we took part in an authors live event with Axel Scheffler and Julia Donaldson. We listened to 2 stories and then watched Axel Scheffler do some illustrations, we then had a go ourselves and were very proud of what we achieved.

Today we read our own books, and a Katie Morag book and learned about the importance of having characters in a story. We then choose a character from the story to create.

We took part in the school book day activity. Some of the letters were hard to find but we think we have the answer with a few extra clues. We wish every day was like this and that we could wear our PJs as our school uniforms.

Pancakes in P2

Primary 2 enjoyed Pancake Day this week. We learned about why we have pancake day and the part it plays in our calendar. We had a big discussion about our favourite toppings and then enjoyed some pancakes, fruit and syrup.

In maths we started to learn about multiplication. We have been learning how to make equal groups and how to add those equal groups to get the total.

We are artists in P2!

This week in P2 we have been learning about Picasso. We learned that he was a Spanish artist who painted liked to use cubism to create his images. We tried this technique and were very proud of what we achieved.

In topic we learned about how houses on islands might be different to ours. We compared and discussed the differences of the two and created models of an island house.

Over the past few weeks we have been learning to sing Katie Bairdie. We enjoyed performing it today in front  of some of you. We have recorded it too- click the link below to watch it.

Primary 2

This week in science we learned about our skin. We learned that our skin is waterproof, it stops things falling out of us, it keeps germs out and it stretches as we grow. To test that are skin is waterproof we done some finger painting.

In topic time we learned that the Katie Morag stories are based off the Isle of Coll. We used google maps street view to research the island. We then either drew or wrote down what we found. We all found the school, shop and hotel. Some of us also found the airport, castle and found it funny to see the sheep on the road.

Craft and Play Club

We are having fantastic fun and craft and play club.

This week we are making kilts and Chinese dragons. We are also enjoying playing with play dough and the magnets.

We think:

“It’s good” – Dara and Riley

”I love craft and play” – Karlie

“I’m glad craft clubs back” – Scarlette

”I’m so excited” – Bella

Primary 2

Primary 2 have been very busy. We have started our new topic on Katie Morag to help us learn about island life and how it might be different to ours.

In maths we have started our new maths no problem books which we are very excited about. We are starting off by learning about  tens and ones. We have also been practicing recognising and writing numbers to 40 and above.

Merry Christmas from Primary 2

Yesterday we had outdoor learning where we made smores and tried to keep warm by the fire. The smores were delicious and we enjoyed playing out in the woods whilst we waited for the fire to be ready.

We had a very busy morning today baking some yummy cookies. We had to do lots of mixing and then waited patiently whilst they cooked. We all enjoyed eating them and are thinking about what else we could make!

Today we have been practicing with the boomwhackers and have gotten very good a jingle bells. Click the link below to watch us!
