Dear All
This week in literacy we learned when to use proper nouns. We learned the soft ‘g’, ‘ee’ and ‘ea’ spelling words. We started reading ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ which is about a Viking. We designed badges about Vikings. We described the main character ‘Hiccup’ and drew a picture of him. We researched Vikings on the netbook and typed the facts up and wrote in our literacy jotters.
In French we learned how to say different fruits using High Five French. We found out that the French say “I have an apple red instead of a red apple”.
In numeracy we used ‘Freddie’s pocket’ to practice counting money subtraction on a number line. We played number games on the smartboard.
In health and wellbeing we learned about Growth Mindset and did our assembly on it. Hope you enjoyed it!
In learning across the curriculum we had Piper Tommy in to play the bagpipes as we have been learning about Scottish crafts and music. He played The Flower of Scotland, The Skye Boat song and the Flight of the Bumble Bee. He showed us how the bagpipes worked. It was loud and he played them very fast. He was wearing the Couper tartan kilt and a hat. It was green and purple. He wore a sporran on his kilt. He had a traditional Scottish knife in his long green sock. He had holes in his shoes as the original shoes were like Roman sandals to let water out. In music we played instruments to Katie Bairdie and we recorded it. We learned rhythms in NYCOS using a rhyming song. In Science we learned where we would find water and made plants representing worlds.
Hope you have a good weekend!
