P2/3 working with P4.

Mrs Newton’s class have been working with P2/3 on SUMDOG. They were very helpful teaching P2/3, the skills of logging onto the netbooks, the internet and finding SUMDOG. The P4s talked the children through the different areas of the Maths’ games.

Thank you P4!

P6B Class Talks

Well done to all of the children in P6B for your Class Talks on the Industrial Revolution – you all worked so hard!

Primary 6a – Industrial Revolution

This week, Primary 6a have presented Class Talks to their peers. The talks were all based around the Industrial Revolution and varied in content.

They were presented in a variety of ways, including demonstrations, powerpoints and display boards.

The one thing that the class talks all had in common, was the quality of the information that had been researched.

This was of an exceptionally high standard and the children should be very proud of their achievements.

Well Done Primary 6a.

P4B boys and their ‘Box of Feelings…’

Some of our lovely P4 boys came to show me their ‘Box of Feelings’ that had made today. The boys decided to make this in class as a healthy way to ‘post’ their unwanted feelings. The boys plan to use it when they are feeling sad or angry to help them to feel better again. What a great idea boys! You are all little superstars!

Family Learning Afternoon

Thank you to all of our family and friends who came along to our Family Learning afternoon last Thursday. The focus for this session was on how we teach reading at Springfield Primary and Bonnytoun Nursery. After learning about the methods staff use to teach children to read as well as the ‘reading’ ethos being created at Springfield, there was a chance to view the learning in classrooms. Parents, carers and wider family members enjoyed joining in on a variety of reading lessons using different texts. All staff are passionate about books and reading at Springfield and we will continue to instill this in your children.

P2’s Victorian Assembly

Thank you so much to Mrs Burton and all of her lovely P2 children for their excellent assembly last Friday.  The children looked wonderful in their Victorian costumes as they told all about a typical Victorian childhood, including some of the games that children would have played long ago. Well done everyone!

World Book Day Celebrations!

We have been an extremely excited school this week as we have been having lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. Thank you so much to all children who came to school dressed up as their favourite character from a book and also to their carers for facilitating this. Thank you to all staff and children for decorating their classroom doors as a book cover and for entering into the spirit of the week. A massive thanks to Mrs Kennedy and Mrs Manlove for organising everything including the scavenger hunt in the library yesterday. Thank you also to our friend Russell from St Michael’s Church who came along to talk to us about the power of words. I hope that you enjoy the photos of our happy staff and happy children.

Happy weekend everyone!
