Roaming the tombs of Egypt

On Monday we all went to Edinburgh to visit the National Museum. We took part in a great workshop, we had to identify the artefacts from clues. Then we visited a recreation of an actual tomb! After lunch we had time to visit some of the other galleries and then we got the bus back to school. Luckily we had Tuesday off to recover!

On Wednesday we started to learn how to do Suduko puzzles, these were tricky but fun. Then we had our last quidditch session with Kieran before Monday’s tournament. We are all very excited about the event, hopefully it won’t rain on Monday.

On Thursday we started to debate with each other using the arguments and statements we had written earlier, It was a bit tricky but we enjoyed the experience. Then we got to meet our new teacher, Mrs McCartney, this was really good and we are looking forward to P5a, plus Mrs Newton will be right next door with P5b.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the Gala day, we have plenty of Flower Girls in P4 as well as a few animals, fingers crossed it is a lovely sunny day.

2 weeks to go in P4 🙂

P.S. We all need to wear our outdoor PE kit on Monday (no school uniform needed) and our T-shirts should, if possible, be in our house colours.

Wet, wet, wet!

Lots happening this week, even though we had lots of rain! On Monday we walked to the Marches book Festival- we stayed mostly dry on the way there. The author was great and we really enjoyed his stories. On the way back we did get wet- but we didn’t melt so it was all good. A huge thank you to the mums who came with us 🙂

Our Rugby session was cancelled on Tuesday- because the rain refused to stop, however we did get an indoor session on Thursday to make up for it.

On Wednesday we worked in our groups to make model farms. We all worked really well together and the models are fabulous!

On Thursday we had athletics and rugby- we are a sporty lot in P4a- and then Mrs Gordon did French with us. She was super impressed with our knowledge and how quickly we learned the songs.

The SSPCA came to talk to us at assembly today, it was very interesting and we learned lots.

Next week we have our museum trip on Monday- everyone needs a packed lunch, water and snack. School uniformhas to be worn and we are not going to the shop so NO MONEY 🙂

Next Tuesday we are on holiday and then on Wednesday we will have our final quidditch practice before the tournament.

Busy, busy, busy 🙂

Have a great weekend.

Dear All

This week we had lots of fun during our learning!

In literacy we learned how to do persuasive writing. We had to think of something that our partner doesn’t agree with and try to persuade them to agree with it. We also learnt about conjunctions.

In numeracy we learnt about time, area and perimeter. We also watched a video on area and perimeter.

In Health and Wellbeing we did P.E. with Mrs Reid. We learnt how to throw a javelin.

In Learning across the curriculum we finished off our farm pictures and got them put up on the farm wall.

With Mrs Begarnie, we learned about Islamic faith and how they fast during the 9th month in the Islamic calendar.

Hope you have a good weekend!         Typed by Una

P4a, angles everywhere!

In numeracy this week we have been learning about right angles. We made right angle checkers and learned that a right angle is always a right angle no matter how big or small a shape is. We explored angles outside and found a huge stone slab that looked just like our angle checkers.

We began to make a map of our own farms. We had to use our knowledge of maps and area and also created a key.

In literacy we started writing persuasive arguments. Next week we will be holding a debate with P5a as our audience. P5a visited us this week to share their learning on different countries in Europe.

We did shot put in PE and we think we were amazing!

We also got outside lots, Tuesday was Rugby day and Thursday we had an extra long play outside which Miss Baillie gave us because we have worked so hard this term.

Today we will be taking home some of the seeds we planted- these just need to be planted into our gardens where they should grow bigger and flower.

The next few weeks will be busy in P4a. We are going to the Marches Book Festival on Monday- leaving at 10.45 we need a packed lunch, drink, waterproof coats and sensible shoes for this.

The following Monday- Monday 12th June- we have our trip to the National Museum. Packed lunches, snacks and a drink are needed for this- Please do not send in money as we will NOT have time to visit the shop.

Reminder we will be off on Tuesday 13th June for the Marches and the Gala Day is on Saturday 17th June.

Have a great weekend 🙂
