P4 Class

Primary 4 children have been exploring different types of 2D shapes.  Not only did they learn unfamiliar ones, they also got creative in representing them using natural materials.  We spoke about individual shape properties and compared them with each other.

The children were also measuring and estimating the size of each sides of a particular shape.  They used the rulers to support them in finding their accurate measurements.

The rugby session on Thursday was a success.  The children really enjoyed learning to pass the ball to the side. They were also thrilled when they had to snatch rugby tags from each other.  The walk was long but the children soldiered on.

Spelling:  The children were leaning  to spell words with ‘wa’  for ‘wo’ sounds.

Literacy (writing): They wrote about their Halloween experience.  They learnt about paragraph writing, margins and indentation.

For PE , the children practiced skills such as power skipping and heel flicks.  For Music, the children made musical spells.

Dear All

P3’s had a great Hallowe’en party on Monday!

This week in Literacy we continued our Alien Mission with Big Writing adventures by writing a report to Aliens about how Humans lived, what they ate, what they did and what they were like. We were listening to lots of stories in Scots language e.g. the Gruffalo’s Wean, Billionaire Bairn and Fairy Stories including Wee Reid Riding Hood! In French we learned to say the months and practised with a ball game. If we landed on ‘aout’ we were ‘oot!’

In Numeracy we learned to estimate the length of objects in the classroom and then measure them. We did Hallowe’en activities to find a pumpkin using odd and even numbers.

On Thursday we went to the rugby club and when we went back to school we went on the trim trail. At rugby we wore belts and ribbons and ran fast.

Hope you have a good weekend!

A recap on what we have been up to in P4

Last Week…

som

Some children presented their own interpretation of the word “bullying”.  They also gave their own resolution to conflict or bullying behavior.

We  enjoyed a treasure hunt type activity which involved teamwork.  Each group were given a list of sums  and then had to hunt for the right answers which Miss Durano hid around the classroom.

This week, even though it was a very short, we have been able to carry out several important exercises.

We had our spelling test which most of us did competently!

We started learning how to subtract two digit numbers too.  This was really quite challenging for many of us, so we will be doing more of this in the coming week.

We have been able to focus much better on our reading groups this week.  Miss Durano is very proud of us for doing brilliantly at staying on task, within our group as well as  independently.

Well, we had several more learning experiences this week but we will have to stop here for now.  Have a great weekend everyone!
