Snow Days Primary 3

Good Morning Primary 3!

I hope everyone is enjoying their snow days! Below is a list of ideas/activities that you can do to help continue your learning while we are not in class.

  • Build a snowman/igloo. Please feel free to send any pictures of your snow creations through class dojo. We can then share and discuss them in class when we get back.
  • Search for different animal footprints in the snow and try and guess which animal they belong to.
  • Happy World Book Day!! We were going to discuss our favourite books in class today. Why don’t you write your own book review or design a new front cover for your book.
  • We have been learning how to divide by 2, 3, 4 and 5 this week so ask someone to write you some division sums and have a go at answering them.
  • Access Sumdog and play a few games.
  • Next week we will be researching and developing our understanding of Fairtrade so if you have access to the internet you could do your own research to help us with our learning in class.

Any learning/activities you do at home please send through class dojo. I would love to see any pictures!

Have a fun day in the snow and remember to wrap up warm!! Hopefully see you all tomorrow.

Primary 3

We have had a very busy week in Primary 3! In Numeracy we have been learning about money, being able to calculate change from £1 and beyond. We had great fun role playing as shop keepers and customers to consolidate what we have been learning throughout the week.

This week we were learning about Alexander Graham Bell and how he invented the telephone. The children were very interested to see how the telephone has evolved throughout the years and had a super discussion about what a phone may look like in years to come!

Last week the class had designed their own televisions for the year 2050! They were very imaginative! On Thursday we were learning about persuasive language and therefore created excellent advertising posters to help sell their televisions. Everyone did a great job!

Have a great weekend,

Mrs McVay and Primary 3

Burns Afternoon

This afternoon P2/3 and P3 enjoyed a Burns afternoon where they sang Scottish songs, recited their Scots poems, tasted shortbread and watched some highland dancing. We also listened to The Gruffalo in Scots, learned some Scots words and even learnt how to do the Dashing White Sergeant. The children did a super job learning their Scots poems and were very confident when performing them to the class. Well done boys and girls!

Welcome Back!

Happy new year everyone! We hope you all had a lovely and relaxing Christmas break! It was great to see the pupil’s huge smiles and enthusiasm for starting back on Tuesday morning. The class loved sharing their favourite parts of the holiday which they then used to write a Christmas Holiday report.

We reflected on the year that is now past and discussed all the things we are looking forward to in 2018. This was a great starting point for evaluating our learning in Primary 3 and deciding what we would like to work on going into the new term. The class created their own Learning Zone that helped them visualise what we feel really confident doing in class to what we feel we need to work on.

Throughout the next few weeks our focus in class will be on Scotland and looking at all things Scottish. We hope to learn some Scottish poems in time for Rabbie Burns Day and have set up stations in the classroom that include designing our own tartan and paper weaving.

On Friday we welcomed Mrs Birkett to the class and she will be working with us over the next few Mondays and Fridays.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs McVay and Primary 3

Welcome back to Primary 3!

We have had a great start to Primary 3 this week. The pupils have become familiar with our class routines and created their own classroom rules. We also discussed our class charter and created our Minions to use as a display. The pupils created group names for their tables and decided on a sports theme for these this term.

I know that Mr Ritchie is looking forward to starting with us next week and I’m sure the class will help him with learning all our new rules and routines.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs McVay
