Surprise visitors to Miss Baillie!

What a lovely surprise I got earlier this week when these four little P1/2 beauties came along to visit me in their princess gowns! I was very jealous of some of the outfits and wished that they came in my size! Our children truly are fabulous and certainly love school!

Tam O’Shanter

You may notice that our amazing Primary 6 and 7 children are featuring in Linlithgow Gazette this week as they display their talents In the Scottish Opera performance of Tam O’Shanter. Scottish Opera spent the whole day in School on Monday 23rd January to help pupils to turn the songs, that they have been learning for months , into a musical extravaganza! A wonderful performance was put on for staff, pupils, family and friends. Thank you to Scottish Opera for their work with the children on the day.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Primary 4A led us through a colourful Chinese New Year celebration last Friday, of acting, singing and dancing. The children have spent weeks making props including a magical Chinese dragon and learning words and songs in Mandarin. Did you know that 2017 is the year of the Rooster? Well done to Mrs Newton, Mrs Hutton and everyone else involved. Xinnian Kuaile!  Happy Chinese New Year from all of us here at Springfield!

P4 Posties!

Thank you to all of our lovely P4 children who have organised our Christmas post in School. Children from all classes are enjoying using the post box to post their Christmas cards which are then sorted and delivered to each class by P4. Miss Hutton and I had a little smile yesterday when Anna in P4 told us that she was enjoying being the post van! Good on you Anna and great work P4!  You are all truly amazing!

Nativity Success!

image image image

Well done to all of our Primary 1 and Primary 2 children who sang and acted their hearts out during their Nativity performance this week. The Innkeeper’s Breakfast was such a comical way to tell this important story and Finlay played the lead role with gusto. We know that you were a bit poorly this week Finlay,  but you rose to the challenge and performed brilliantly as did all of our other Stars! Thank you so much to our P6 ‘technical gurus’, Adam and James,  for ensuring that the sound and lighting was perfect. Thank you to all parents who came into school to paint props and especially to the teachers: Miss Harrison, Mrs Kennedy, Miss Mudd and Mrs Burton for their hard work! What a super show everyone! Roll on Christmas!

Xmas Fayre-A Huge ‘Thank You!’

Thank you so much to all staff, pupils and the fabulous PTA who made our Christmas Fayre such a success today. It was a real joy to be in School and there was such a happy atmosphere in the air with people buying gifts for Christmas and chatting over a cup of tea. Thank you also to Santa, who paid his annual visit to Springfield to meet some of our girls and boys. All of your wonderful help and support is truly appreciated.

Have a great weekend.

Christmas is coming to Springfield…

We have been getting into the festive mood today at Springfield. Our Christmas tree has arrived and a group of children were chosen by class teachers to decorate it. I’m sure that you will agree that it looks beautiful! The whole School had been busy getting ready for the Fayre tomorrow and making sure that the class stalls look fantastic. Thank you so much to the PTA and all staff and children for helping this week. See you all tomorrow at the Christmas Fayre. Doors open at 9.30am!

Kind wishes,

P5B’s Evacuee Assembly

imageimage image image image

P5B dazzled us today with their acting, dancing and singing as they provided an account of life in WW2. The children acted out the story of an Evacuee and described the feelings of children who would have been in this position. Well done to those involved! Thank you especially to Mrs Matos and all parents and carers who provided costumes and came along to support the children today.  Excellent work everyone!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Kind wishes,

Miss Baillie x

P5A’s Remembrance Assembly

Well done to P5A and Mrs McCartney for their hard work in putting together a Remembrance Assembly which was held in School yesterday. The children talked about why we wear red poppies on Remembrance Day each year and P6B made a beautiful 3-D vase of poppies to display outside the Gym Hall on the day. Conflict resolution was a major theme of the assembly and Mrs McCartney has been working hard to teach her children about Peer Mediation and how to resolve conflict in a respectful way. We truly believe that this is a vital life skill and thank you to P5A for sharing this important message with us today. By treating each other kindly and with respect, even if we disagree, we can work together to make our world a peaceful place to live in.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Miss Baillie x
