Lambs visit nursery again!

Our afternoon children and children attending on a Monday also had the opportunity to see some lambs. Well done to Charlie in P6 who came down from school and shared his knowledge about his lambs. Some of our boys and girls even had the opportunity to feed the lambs from a bottle.

Visitors to nursery

028Great excitement this morning at Bonnytoun Nursery. Last week when discussing , what we would like to learn about “Spring”, our children asked if they could see a lamb. Today we were really lucky to have  a visit from Deliah and Yogi, two orphan lambs. We found out that they were now pet lambs and drink milk from a bottle 5 times a day. Ruth said she enjoyed stroking them  and Caitlin said they liked her scarf. Thank-you to Alasdair and Rhona who brought the lambs and shared lots of information with us. Ruth, Ciara and Euan would now like a pet lamb!! Our afternoon children will have the opportunity to see the lambs next  Monday.

Book Week at Bonnytoun Nursery

This week , every child has had the opportunity to share their favourite book in group. We’ve been amazed at the the selection of books chosen and the confidence shown by each child when retelling the story. We’ve also had some children sharing non-fiction books, we’ve certainly learned a lot from these books, especially about vehicles, space and dinosaurs.

On Thursday we came dressed as a book character.

We’ve also had opportunities to create our own books and on Wednesday and Thursday we visited school to see the books on offer at the Scholastic Book Fair.

Nursery News

Over the last few weeks we have been really busy in Bonnytoun Nursery.

We have been very interested in “Birds.”

We found out penguins were birds too but that they couldn’t fly. We also discovered they came from the Antartic. We added penguins to our water tray but in order to make it a very cold place, we froze the water. We also painted pictures of penguins. Next time you are in nursery, have a look at our display, i’m sure you’ll be impressed.

We have also been looking at non-fiction books and have used the pictures in these books to create our own drawings and collages of birds. Isabel created her own non-fiction book.

Last week we made bird cake and then observed the birds in our garden eating this food. We took part in the RSPB birdwatch and spotted many birds, including a blue-tit and robin. We recorded the birds in our garden on a chart.

Bonnytoun Nursery

Over the last few weeks, we’ve had great excitement in nursery.

At the beginning of December we had the opportunity to view a performance by Mousetale Puppets. The children really enjoyed this and had the opportunity to touch the puppets afterwards and find out how they were made.

Our children also had great fun at our nursery parties and were so excited when Santa arrived to deliver presents.

This week we have been so proud of all our confident children  who have performed brilliantly during our six Christmas Singalongs.
