It is P2A’s first post of the year! We have been busy bees since being back at school. Take a look at what we have been doing in class this week.
In Numeracy and Mathematics we have been learning all about symmetry. We discussed as a class what symmetry means, what this looks like in our classroom and the wider world. We have enjoyed creating symmetrical butterflies and making sure that they are the same on both sides. We also created symmetrical shape patterns. This is where we traced around a 2D shape, cut and folded it. We then created our own patterns in the shape using lots of different colours. Miss Muir was impressed with our effort and hard work that we took when making these.
In Literacy we have been revising the vowel digraphs ‘oi’, ‘oy’, ‘oo’, ‘ew’, ‘oa’, ‘ow’. We have used our magnetic boards for sounding out words with these digraphs. The whole class are making a great effort in trying to think of their own words. Miss Muir didn’t even think of some of the ones we came up with! Also we have been writing our own sentences with these words which we are proud of.
In P.E this week we had Mrs Reid on Wednesday and Miss Muir on Tuesday. We played some warm up games and learned some new stretches. In partners, we practised our throwing and catching skills with different sized balls.
During story and milk we read a story called ‘A Tale of Two Beasts’. In the story a little girl rescues a fox called Fang. She takes Fang home with her and creates a home for him out of a cardboard box. However Fang misses the deep dark wood so he escapes. This got us thinking how the girl could have made her home for Fang better to stop him from escaping, so we created our own homes out of cardboard boxes. This is what we made…
Thank you for reading our post. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
