P4/5 Week commencing 25th March 2019

On Tuesday we had our eleventh NYCOS lesson. We revised some of the games that we had been learning and composed music using the notes, rhythms, pitch and instruments.

We continued with our Egyptian topic by learning about the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. We finished off all our art work for the Egyptian display in the classroom.

In Science we have been busy planning for the “egg drop” challenge.  This involves creating a safety cover using different materials to protect the egg from a 2m drop.

In Maths we learned how to recognise when the clock time is in “am” or “pm”. We used this information to help us read timetables to plan a journey.  We also took part in the BIG Maths challenge to improve our multiplication skills and some of us are now moving up the levels.  In “Noggle” this week the highest score was 72,203.

For PE this week we took part in the Fencing festival at Linlithgow Academy.  We learned basic moves as we moved around the five different stations.  After each station was finished two children were awarded an armband for the best technique.  At the end we did a dual against the children from P4 and our classmates.  Some of us were awarded badges by the instructors and sport leaders for doing so well during the festival.

In French we had a visit by Alex from Linlithgow Academy who delivered a lesson all about how to order our lunch in school. We learned how to ask for what we wanted to and use the tray colours.

In Reading we continued to work hard carrying out our Literacy Circle roles and working on the different stories within the Literacy Box.

In our class novel entitled “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” this week we learned that Greg and his best friend Rowley were out “trick and treating” but it was ruined by Manny because his Mum said he had to go with them.  Mum then told Dad to go with them as well to make sure they did not go out of the neighbourhood.

By Mr Ritchie and all the “Tiggerrific” P4/5s.
