P4/5 Week commencing 12th November 2018

In handwriting we have been learning how to join letters to the letter “s”. We have also been trying our best to keep our work very neat and our letters on the line.  We have also been working on our pencil control techniques to help us.

In Maths we have been practicing our “number talks” and we have started looking at 2D shapes.  We discovered that 2D shapes are flat but 3D shapes have dimension.  We have also been learning the different names the shapes are called.  We also have been working on SumDog to help us revise our tables.  In Big Maths we have been working hard to complete all the sums in the allotted timescale.

In Science we started learning about the major organs of the body.  We drew round a body and then tried to draw where we thought the major organs were located.

In PE we have been working on our passing, catching and “the three step” rule for handball.

We had our third “Rugby taster” sessions at Linlithgow Rugby Club.  We worked on improving our throwing, passing and catching skills.  We are looking forward to going back next Tuesday.

In French we have been learning how to say the days of the week and our ages.

In Drama we acted out a scene from “The Animals of Farthing Wood”.  Mrs Hogg played the part of badger and we were all different animals.  We all had to leave the woods and find a new home.

In our class novel entitled “School Ship Tobermory” Matron was kidnapped by poachers and the Captain Macbeth sailed towards the “Albatross” to try and stop them by taking the wind out of their sails. Mr Rigger called the Coast Guard to help stop them and rescue Matron.

By Mr Ritchie and all the “Tiggerrific” P4/5s.
