Story Time from Home – Thursday 3oth April

Hello boys and girls

Here is the link to Thursday’s story which today includes all of the Oxford Reading Tree f.amily.

https://vimeo.com/413241292/acaed4d4cc

Well done to everyone who has had a go at making the puppets that I mentioned on Monday’s video.  The weather isn’t looking quite so nice today ( it is actually raining in Bathgate this morning) so maybe you could have some time away from the tablets and ipads and try some puppet making ?

One of the children made puppets of her family rather than BIff and Chip which i thought was a great idea. You can see the photograph below.

Have fun whatever you do!

3a Thursday 30.4.20

Good morning 3a

I hope you all have your logins for sumdog now and are working your way through the diagnostic tasks. You should do these without help and than the activities will be set at your level.

Our favourite poem to share today is ” Homework! Oh Homework ” by Jack Prelutsky. I think parents and children alike will enjoy this one.

https://www.poemhunter.com/poem/homework-oh-homework-2/

Try to send a photo of your work or activities to myself or Mrs Bell and they can be posted on the school’s twitter account.

Just for fun – Hetzer and Katie Morag have shared their puppy photos. Who was the cutest pup?

Katie Morag hadn’t quite got the hang of sitting on the day she met Hetzer.

Remember Monday is a holiday and Tuesday is an in service day, so next week’s  home learning grid will be posted on Wednesday.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a good week.

You should now all have your Sumgog usernames and passwords and i have noticed some of you have been on. If you could try and log on if you haven’t already this would be great, as we will be starting to set tasks for the pupils over the next few weeks.

Riddles

A Riddle is a type of poem that describes something without actually naming what it is, leaving the reader to guess.

Can you guess the 3D shape in this riddle? Comment below with your answers.

Below is an attachment for more riddles if you enjoyed this one. Have a go, some of them are tricky!

Shape Riddles

Can you make up your own riddle? Send me an e-mail with your riddle and i will see if I can guess what you a describing, it doesn’t have to be a shape. Please don’t make it too hard!

Have a great day.

Good morning 3a.

Apologies my blog is late. Technical issues.

Another week in lockdown, but I’ve not felt so cut off since I’ve been receiving your emails. Keep in touch.

Remember your suggested activities are published in your home learning grids and posted on this blog on Mondays.

Our favourite poem for today is ” On the Ning Nang Nong ” by Spike Milligan.  I still haven’t mastered uploading a link, but you’ll find it using a search engine. This is where I found it – https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/poem/on-the-ning-nang-nong/

Just for fun – Which dog do you think is the best at jumping?

P3B – Wednesday 29th April

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all having a good week so far. Thank you to everyone who has been in contact with Mr Brice and myself, we love hearing what you have been up to and seeing all your hard work.

On Monday me and Elliot made a bird feeder with an old tub, sticks and shoe laces. There are so many great ideas and you can usually make them with things you have around the house. We haven’t seen any birds on it yet but hopefully they get used to it soon. Here is a picture.

I know everyone loved Percy Parkers 5 times table song in class. As you are all so good at it why not share it with your family. You could also learn Percy Parkers 3 times table song.

International Dance Day

Today is international dance day, a perfect day to practice the routines you have put together for expressive arts. Feel free to send us a video of these we would love to see them.

I have added a link of a just dance video that we have all enjoyed in class.

Music Time with Mrs McWhirter

Good morning Primary 3!  I hope you are ready to make some music?

Maybe like me you are spending a lot of time in your garden when the weather is warm? Or maybe you have been enjoying a walk outdoors? Wherever you are there are so many sounds around and we are going to explore and collect some sounds today!

If you click on this link you should find a clip called Sonic Explorer and today it is all about the garden and the outdoors. While you are watching and listening, think about what instruments would make those sounds. Maybe after watching you could be a sonic explorer in your own garden or on your next walk and collect your own sounds? Or you could use your music memory to remember the sounds of the park or an outdoor space.

I would love to hear your sound collection, it could just be like a list like this

trees rustling, birds tweeting, ball bouncing, washing flapping………and so on.

You could turn it into a Sound Poem and write it out in your best handwriting then draw pictures or shapes to illustrate it. Or if you prefer you could take photos of your sound to share. I look forward to hearing about some interesting sounds!Happy listening!

Please click here for Sonic Explorer!

P3A Tuesday 28th April

Good Morning P3A!

Yesterday the school office sent out the P3 logins for Sumdog. https://www.sumdog.com/user/sign_in

This is a very exciting learning website where Ms Occardi and myself can set activities for you to play. If you have some time today, please try and log in to your account.  You will be asked some maths questions first in a diagnostic test.  It’s important you answer these yourself (with no help from mum or dad!) so the games and activities afterwards are at the correct level for you.

P3 were also sent logins for Oxford Owl.  https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/please-log-in?open_loginbox=true To login- click on the ‘My Class Login’ button at the top of the page.  The website has free ebooks for you to read.  Happy reading!  Let me know if you find a great book!

If you don’t have your login details for either of these sites, send me an email and I’ll send them over.

Story Time from Home – Monday 27th April

Here is the link to the first of this week’s stories.  Remember the activities that I talk about on the video are for P2/1 P2a and P2b but if you are in any of the other classes and you have have some free time – you are welcome to do them too.

And of course you are welcome to send me any of your lovely pictures and messages too!

P3A Monday 27th April

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed the warm weather.   I spent time with my family playing outside.  My children enjoyed drawing chalk pictures on the slabs then they helped me water the plants in the garden.  It turned into a bit of a water fight with the hose and we ended up soaked! This year we are growing potatoes, peas, onions and carrots.  We can see the shoots just starting to appear from the soil. Are any of you growing vegetables too?

Here is the P3 Home Learning grid for this week.   P3 Week 4 plan (Mon27.04)

I’ve also set new games on Active Heinemann so please log in and give these a try.  For those that would like an extra task I’ve added some of the activity sheets we would have been doing in class.  You don’t need to print these off, you could talk through the work with someone at home or record answers on paper.  I know some of you emailed me last week to show photographs and tell me about your work.  I would love to hear from you again this week.   You can reply to this post or send Ms Occardi and myself an email.

Mrs Bell 🙂

Story Time From Home – Friday 24th April

Good morning everyone from sunny Bathgate! Hope it’s a nice day in Linlithgow too.

Here is the link to the last of this week’s dragon stories. Please make sure that you watch right to the end as I had to add a little bit on!

https://vimeo.com/411167888/249f1eb2d9

I think my favourite story  this week has been Dragon Stew but I did feel very sorry for the dragon when the Vikings were poking and hurting him.  At least he got his own back in the end.

Please check Twitter later today for this week’s awesome achiever’s.  You’ll need to use your really good looking skills as remember I can’t include and names or photographs of your lovely faces!

Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.
