Good morning Primary 3! I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend. Many thanks to those of you who shared their home learning from last week, it was lovely to hear from you!

Here are your home learning activities and resources for today. Please remember if you don’t have a printer at home you can use your jotter or paper to write your answers.

Maths – Today we are revising coordinates. Remember coordinates are a set of numbers or numbers and letters together that show you a position on a map. They can help you find a specific place or object you are looking for. Have a look at the power point then try one of the activity sheets.

Literacy – Please complete the Literacy game which revises full stops, question marks and exclamation marks. Next week we will be learning about speech marks!

RME – Can you find out about another parable that Jesus told? Design and colour your own cartoon strip re-telling the story.

French – We are starting a new topic in French about French food and drink. The power point will help you to complete the matching activity.

Good morning Primary 3,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

Thank you so much to those who sent me the video’s and photo’s of the pupils show and tell’s. It was so lovely to see the children again and see what they had to show, I was very impressed! Well done. If you haven’t sent in your child’s show and tell yet, please email me one over. I would love to see it.

Today would have been a Monday holiday but you are welcome to start this weeks work today if you would prefer.

P3 Friday 15th of May

Good morning P3,

Here is your task for today…

As it is Friday, our ‘show and tell’ day, I would like you to choose something from home to show and tell! It could be any object or toy that means something to you. I would like you to get a photo or video taken holding the object and get a parent to send it in an email to me with an explanation from you about what your object is and why you have chosen it.

I can’t wait to see your show and tell’s!

Photography Competition

Here is some information for any budding photographers amongst us:

‘RiverLife: Almond and Avon are excited to announce our online Resilient Rivers Photography Competition! We are looking for photo submissions that show how our rivers and burns can still be beautiful despite the pressures that are put on them. They have been heavily affected by humans over the centuries through industrialisation, urbanisation, agriculture and pollution. If you take a walk down by your local river or burn, there is a good chance that you’ll see signs of these impacts. The remains of the old weirs constructed to provide water to mills, pollution and plastic from the surrounding industries, or even an old tyre or shopping trolley sticking out of the water, it’s usually easy to spot some of the pressures these waterways face.

So if you snap some pictures of your local Resilient River while out exercising, or if you already have a great photo showing just how strong our rivers can be, upload it by clicking the link below. Once we have our entries we’ll be showcasing them in the Resilient Rivers Photography Exhibition, so keep your eyes peeled for that coming soon!’

Submit a photo here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/77WY8MK

Have fun and don’t forget we can share your photos on here too, just email them to your teacher or send via the school office on wllivingstonvillage-ps@westlothian.org.uk.

Primary 3 Home Learning for Wednesday 13.5.20

Good morning Primary 3! I hope you are having a good week. Please see below your home learning activities for today and the resources you will need to complete them. I would love to hear from you through a message or photos of your learning.

Have a nice day everyone and enjoy the rest of your week.

Maths – Measuring in cms. Please complete questions 1 and 2 from the activity sheet. If you want, you can complete questions 3 and 4 for an extra challenge! Remember, to find the total length of the two toys, we need to add both lengths together. When finding the difference between two numbers, we can do a subtraction sum to help us work out the answer.

Literacy – This week we are revising when to use exclamation marks. Have a look at the power point and use this to help you complete the activity sheet.

RME – Read and discuss the ‘The Parable of the Sower’. Use the story board activity sheet to re-write the story in your own words.

French – Revising numbers 1-20

P3 Maths 12.05.20

Good morning everyone.

I hope you had a good day yesterday.

Today we will be looking at adding and subtracting by tens. Some questions ask to use base 10, however, we cannot use physical base 10 as it is in school. I will attach a picture below of what it looks like and you can draw the base 10 required at the side of the question to help you answer it.

There is a video to help with today’s work to watch first:

https://vimeo.com/415461655

Here is the maths sheet for today:

Lesson-1-Add-and-subtract-10s-2019

And here is the answer sheet once complete:

Lesson-1-Answers-Add-and-subtract-10s-2019

This is Base 10. It is a fantastic concrete counting material that we use in school. The small cubes are worth 1 unit and the long cuboid’s are worth 10. This should help with answering the questions.

Take care,

Mrs Love
