P3 Weekly Reflection 15.02.19

This week we were practising our spelling words using plasticine and art straws, it was not as easy as some of the children made it look!  We have been learning about Magic ‘e’ and how it changes the sound of a vowel from it’s sound to it’s name.  I wonder how many examples of magic ‘e’ words the children will be able to tell you?

In maths we have been learning about halves and quarters.  We know that a quarter is half of a half and we talked about the numerator and denominator, tricky words but we are becoming more confident about what these mean!

In our topic work we have begun to look at key dates in the life of Ancient Egyptians and we talked about why the River Nile was so important to the Egyptians.  We are looking forward to learning about hieroglyphics and the process of mummification in the next few weeks.

In P.E. we have begun to work on gymnastics and we have been practising our jumping and rolling this week.  The star shaped forward roll using the springboard was a definite hit!

Here’s some of the children’s highlights:-

Luke C “I enjoyed when we did Humpty Dympty in different voices in Drama.  I also like when the nursery sang Baby Shark.”

Joe “I liked doing rolls and especially the star jump forward roll in gymnastics.”

Rohan “I liked doing homophones with Mrs Stewart.”

William “I also liked the homophones.”

Kalista “I enjoyed learning about Egypt when we were learning about the timeline of important events.”

Have a lovely holiday weekend and I look forward to hearing all the children’s news on Wednesday.
