P3 – 27/5/22

Good afternoon,

This week P3 have been learning:

  • In literacy, the class were writing their hot piece of narrative writing
  • In Maths, P3 were measuring in cm and m. They also learned about shape and tessellation. We looked at the graphic artist M. C. Escher and created our own tessellated art work digitally.
  • In ICT, P3 researched Escher and have created a PowerPoint in pairs to add images of their tessellation art work and will be adding information they researched about Escher into the PowerPoint that they will eventually share with the class.
  • Today saw the last day of Bikeability and a journey to Mill Farm, cycling past the river, over hills and even a cross road for the train at Almond Valley. I am thankful that the weather was on our side today!

P2 Learning Reflection W/E 27th May 2022

Well done P2 for a super assembly all about Under The Ocean. You did a great job sharing everything you have been learning. We heard all about the water cycle, ocean layers and ocean creatures. The singing was fabulous too! Well done I am so proud of you all!

Willow – I loved the songs in our class assembly. I loved my bit when I speak. I thought that everyone was super good at sing and speaking!

Thea – I really liked singing and I really liked standing up and talking about octopus. Octopus are clever because they can camouflage.

Ella – I liked learning about how to do the assembly. We learned that whales live in the sunlight layer and dive down to the twilight layer to eat. They eat six tons of krill a day!

Jack – I enjoyed singing the sea shanty song in front of the whole entire school!

Louis – We had to talk about the ocean to all of the classes. It was our assembly and we never did one before. We learned about the ocean for our assembly. The ocean has layers; I didn’t know that I thought it was one big sea! Everyone was clapping and cheering when we did the sea shanty!

Alexander – I was liking the under the sea song. We were talking about our sea animals. I liked the sea shanty because everyone was stamping and clapping!

Caleb – I liked doing the assembly. I liked doing the sea shanty song!

Josh – I liked singing the sea shanty song. I also liked saying about my lines. I was talking about a seahorse, the water cycle and the layers of the ocean. The water cycle goes round and round. It rises up and it forms into a cloud then the rain drops drop onto the land. It keeps going round and round!

Olivia – My highlight was the assembly. I thought it was funny when Grace was talking about the jellyfish because she said that their mouth was their bottom too! It made everybody laugh.

Elyas – I enjoyed doing the assembly. I liked it when we were getting ready to go. I like waiting before something starts. I feel excited. I felt kind of sad after because I wanted to do the assembly again!

Oliver – I enjoyed doing the assembly. I enjoyed singing the sea shanty and the under the sea song!

P2-1 Weekly Reflection 27.5.22

Although a shorter week, it has been a busy one and we still managed to fit in lots of learning.

In Literacy, P2 continued the Read Write Inc (RWI) Pre-Spelling programme in preparation for beginning the RWI Spelling Programme in Primary 3. This week we have learned that verbs are doing words and practised adding the endings –ing and –ed to different verbs. P1 continued to learn their set 3 sounds and enjoyed using the magnetic boards to build words with the ‘ure’ and ‘are’ sounds. We have also been practising our red words to help us build up our fluency in reading.

In Maths, P2 have been learning about arrays. We know that arrays have rows and columns and the children enjoyed making and discussing their own arrays using counters to help them. P1 have been skip counting in twos and working out the number before, after and in between.

In PE this week, we have been developing our tennis skills.

In Science we have been about the life cycle of the butterfly and the frog. We were super excited when the staff and children from the ELC came along to our classroom to show us their butterfly farm!

On Thursday, Primary 1 enjoyed some time in the playground with their Primary 7 buddies and look forward to meeting up with their buddies again next week.

This morning we listened to P2’s assembly about ‘Under the Sea’.

Here are some of the children’s highlights this week:-

Rory “I liked the Wellerman song at the assembly.”

Dylan “I liked learning about the life cycle of a frog.”

Poppy “I liked learning about the different kinds of spiders and I learnt that not all spiders do webs. I also liked learning about all the different kinds of sharks.”

Kaylan “I liked learning about spiders. The brighter the spider the more poisonous.”

Ethan “I liked the life cycle of the minibeasts. I liked all of them.”

Cara “I enjoyed using the set 2 sounds to make words.”

Cooper “I learned the cycle of a frog.”

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
