P2/1 have settled in well to the school routines. This week P1 have been learning d and t. We have made d and t with playdough, taught ted how to write them, looked for the letters in the sand, created a dinosaur and a tiger. P1 also learned the tricky word the. P2 have been revising the ea and oi sounds. We searched for words in a word search, played roll and read and played an autumn woodland walk game which involved us reading ow or oi words. In writing this week we wrote about what we are looking forward to this year in school. In Numeracy and maths P2 have been busy learning about the more than and less than symbols. We know that Charlie crocodile likes to eat the big numbers and we can identify the bigger or smaller numbers in a sentence, for example 9 > 6. P1 have been busy exploring the numbers 6 and 7. We have been counting 6 or 7, ordering 6 or 7 and drawing 6 or 7. As a class we are in the middle of creating our class charter and we have been thinking about the five school values of aspiration, compassion, equality, perseverance and respect. In P.E we are enjoying playing games such as Port, Starboard and working on being spatially aware. Here are the children’s reflections on their learning this week;
Ayden: “I enjoyed assembly today and talking about compassion, respect and positive relationships.”
Ch: “I learned about the greater than, less than symbols <, >.”
Charlotte: “I enjoyed learning the letters d and t and using the playdough to make them.”
Hamish: “I enjoyed talking about houses and writing our new letters on our backs.”
C: “I enjoyed learning about the sound t.”
Lucia: “I enjoyed finding the letters in the sand.”
Hiba: “I enjoyed Mrs Mill’s assembly.”
Sam: “I found learning the greater than and less than symbols tricky but I enjoyed it.”
