Primary 2/1 have been enjoying all the fun activities for Health week. They took part in relay races and games with ‘Active Schools’, a golfing session with Mr Reed, Boot Camp and of course Sport’s day!
We also made fruit Kebabs and wrote instructions using our genre and core writing targets.
Primary 2/1 have had a great week. We have celebrated Book Week Scotland by listening to Brenda is a Sheep then designing a jumper with repeating patterns for Brenda. We listened to Goldilock’s and the Three Bears and sequenced the story. We went into role and acted out the story and were really good at putting on the voices of mummy, daddy and baby bear! In maths we are using numicon, cubes and counters to add two numbers within 10/20.
Please find attached the homework plan for this week.
It’s Book Week Scotland and Primary 1 pupils will receive their Bookbug bags and Primary 2 their Read, Write, Count bags. The bags contain fantastic books and some other resources to encourage a love of reading, writing and counting.
This week we will be doing an exciting range of activities with the books to celebrate Book Week Scotland and the bags will come home with your child on Friday.
It’s been a very exciting week in Primary 2/1. We received a letter from the friendly dragon asking for our help. He was very sad because his Fairyland home had disappeared. Jack didn’t have a beanstalk to climb, the 3 bears don’t have anywhere to live and Miss Muffet had even lost her tuffet! Primary 2/1 were tasked with the responsibility to think of different ways we could begin to re-build Fairyland in our classroom so they can live happily ever after. We did a fantastic job! We wrote a letter to the friendly dragon telling him about all the different ways we are planning to transform our classroom. We are looking forward to helping our Fairyland friends.
We also started our class Nativity. Primary 2 did a fantastic job with the narration and Primary 1 took on the variety of roles! It will be a very different Nativity this year, however, we are enjoying learning about this special story and will be able to share photos and videos.
We took part in Halloween activities on Friday. We dressed up in spooky costumes and were able to show off our costumes over TEAMs. A huge thankyou to Mrs Lambe for organising the sweetie bags for everyone. We loved them!
Please find attached the homework grid for this week. The grid contains suggested activities, so please only do what is manageable.
The Home Learning pack should remain at home, however, could I please ask that the reading book is returned on a Friday so that it can be quarantined. Reading will also be heard in class with a book at the same level.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries,
P2/1 have settled really well and are enjoying being at school with their friends. Primary 1 have been learning their initial sounds and segmenting and blending to read three letter words. Primary 2 are getting on great with their vowel digraphs and Block 1 and 2 tricky words. In maths Primary 1 have been working on numbers within 10. We are building a good understanding of numbers by using our fingers, Numicon, cubes and Rekenreks to represent numbers. Primary 2 are developing skills in partitioning and place value. We have really enjoyed taking our numeracy work outdoors. We love our daily Number Talks and love sharing our strategies. In topic we went on a Tree Trail of our playground. We learned about all the different trees and collected leaves. We then counted them and made a picture.
