Primary 2 Learning Grids 11.05.20

Bonjour P2! How are you all? We hope you had a lovely weekend. What did you get up to?

Have you got that “Monday morning” feeling today or are you full of beans?

It looks like it’s going to be another nice day, so remember and make sure you get some time enjoying the fresh air.

At the bottom of the post are the P2 Literacy and Maths Learning Grids for this weeks as well as the Maths worksheet. Remember to go at your own pace. Any questions or comments, please just comment here and we’d love to get back to you.

If you are following the Author’s Live activities, here’s the links to 2 for this week. Emily MacKenzie is reading her book “There’s Broccoli in my Ice Cream!” (I know – sounds yucky!) She also shows you how to draw the character of Granville, a dog. I love the drawing ones. Do you?

The other one is Matthew Fitt, who re-wrote some of the Roald Dahl books in Scots. He explains some of the Scottish words and reads from some of the books. Do you remember any of the Scottish words we learned earlier this year? I know HL in P2D loves Roald Dahl, so you might like this too.

Take care everyone,

RME P2/1 and P1- What makes us Happy?

Good morning! I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful sunshine we have been having! I love the sun and it has really been making me feel happy.  I hope it helps you to feel happy too!

Today we are going to be thinking about what makes people happy and what makes us happy.

Step1:-  watch the following video

One of the characters is happy and the other one is sad. How does the yellow character make the other one happy?

He does something to make him laugh, gives him an ice-cream and a hug.

Step 2:- Talk to someone in your home about this. What makes you happy? It might be watching your favourite film, reading, dancing or playing football.  I am happy when I am doing Zumba, eating cake(yummy!), reading books and listening to my favourite music.

Step 3:-  Now think about what people make us happy.  What do they say? What do they do ?

My friends and my family make me happy, oh, and my Zumba teachers! They might say something nice to me, do something nice for me or tell me a joke. They might hug me, make me laugh, chat to me, give me presents and take me out for dinner.

What about you?

Step 4:- Is there anyone you can think of who would choose you to make them feel happy?  I hope my best friend’s would choose me and my mum would definitely choose me.

Step 5:-  Look at the sheet below. Draw some things around the sunshine that make you happy and people who make you happy.  If you can’t print out the sheet, don’t worry! You can draw a sun in your jotter and draw pictures round about it.

RME-Primary 3 The Crying Camel.

Good Morning P3. I hope you enjoyed some of last week’s sunshine.  I certainly did!

Last week we finished our work on the Six Main Muslim Beliefs. Remember the Arabic word for God is Allah .  Today we are going to be reading a story about the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.  There are lots of stories about him that help Muslims understand how much he loved Allah and always tried to do what Allah wanted him to do.They show how much he cared about animals as they are all part of Allah’s creation and deserve to be treated with kindness.  We are going to be focusing on the story of the crying camel.

Step 1:- watch the little BBC video clip which shows a young girl briefly telling her brother some of the stories about Muhammad.  The first one is , Muhammad and the Ants(We know this story!) and the second one is about the camel.

hhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/religious-studies-ks1-the%20islamic-story-of%20the-prophets-and-the-ants-and-the-crying-camel/z4vprj6

Step 2:- Read the powerpoint or pdf document of the story which will give you more details and help you do your task.

the crying camel – P3       or    t2-re-721-the-crying-camel-powerpoint-

The story shows us Muslims belief in Allah as the creator and how it is the responsibility of humans to act as caretakers of all animals.  Muhammad taught the man how he should be concerned about Allah’s creatures before being concerned about his pleasure.

Step 3:-  Complete the Crying camel sheet.  Colour in the picture of the camel and write 5 sentences telling me about the story.  Remember the capital letter at the start and the full stop at the end of each sentence.  If you can’t print the sheet then draw a picture of a camel in your jotter and write the sentences underneath it.

eg,  1.The Prophet  Muhammad was walking  through the gardens and heard a strange noise.

2.He saw a camel standing in the hot sunshine, tied to a wooden post.

I hope I get to see some lovely work from you Primary 3.

RME P2 – Christian Wedding

Good Morning Primary 2! Last week we were exploring different Christian celebrations.  We looked at engagements, Christenings, birthdays and weddings. Today we are going to be thinking about what happens in a Christian wedding and the role the church plays in this.  We are also going to think about who the important people are in the wedding.  Step 1:- Have a look at the next picture. P2-wedding invitation

This is a wedding invitation.  Have you ever seen one before? What does it tell you? -Where the wedding is being held, the date and the time and the names of the people who are getting married

Have you ever been to a wedding? Talk to someone in your house about this.

Step 2:-  Read the power point or pdf document and talk to someone in your house about it,  The pages will tell you what to talk about.

P2-All about Christian weddings     OR    What happens at a wedding

Think about things you saw and see what you can remember. eg Church, wedding car, cake, confetti, invitations and rings. Can you remember who the important people are?

Step 3:-  Your task is to complete the following worksheet.  If you can’t print it off you can draw pictures of the important people at a wedding and write who they are underneath them.

P3 Week 6

Good morning everyone.

Miss Buchanan and I are still missing you all but we hope you had a nice weekend. It was a lovely evening in South Queensferry on Friday so my husband and I decided to have a barbeque. I wonder if you did the same or perhaps you had the paddling pool out like my neighbours did.

I have attached this weeks learning grid, remember that the most important topics are those in yellow. The rest is if you have time or you are looking for something to do.

Take care and stay safe.

Up-levelling Task for Tunnel in the Hedge

Morning P.4,

Before starting this up-levelling task, make sure you’ve done the Adverb Revision task in the other assignment for this week. Also, if you didn’t manage to do last week’s task, you might want to have a quick look at it to get your imagination going.

Open up the Tunnel in the Hedge picture from last week and remind yourself what your thoughts were. https://www.onceuponapicture.co.uk/the-collections/the-prediction-collection/

Next, open the up-levelling task attached to this assignment and follow the instructions. (Please note it’s attached in two different formats – Word Document, and Open Document, so if you have problems with one, please try the other.)

I’m looking forward to seeing all your different ways to end the sentence.
