P3 RME Senses in Shabbat 2

Hello Primary 3!๐Ÿ˜Š

Let’s see what we can remember from last week. We wereย  using our senses and lookingย  at some other features of Shabbat.ย  What are our senses? Smell, sight hearing, taste and touch. We watched a video from BBC Bitesizeย  of celebrating Shabbat at home. What things happened that we need to use our senses for?

  • Hearing โ€“ listening to blessings being made.
  • Tasting โ€“ wine or grape juice from the kiddush cup.
  • Tasting โ€“ Challah bread(sweet, almost like a cake)
  • Sight โ€“ watching the Shabbat candles being lit.

Step 1:- Today we are going to continue using our senses and while we are watching the BBC bitesize clip – celebrating Shabbat in the synagogue(Jewish holy building) we are going to look out for things we hear, see, noticing anything people touch, smell or taste.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z7fy4wx

What did you notice?ย  Write down anything you saw in the video.

I saw

  • Hearing โ€“ singing, Rabbi reading in Hebrew.
  • Touching โ€“ cover on the torah Scrolls
  • Sight โ€“ prayer shawl, Kippah, eternal light, Torah scrolls

Zion Judaica Ltd Complete Torah Scroll, TR3-19" Long: Amazon.co.uk ...Progressively Speaking: Should Progressive Jews wear a kippah in ...Ner tamid | Judaism | BritannicaStock photo

Do you recognise what each item is?

Step 2:-ย  Pick one of the Jewish artefacts above and draw a picture of it.ย  Find out some information about what it is and what it means.ย  Write a few sentences underneath your picture.

P2 RME- The story of Abraham

Hello Primary 2!๐Ÿ˜Š Last week we looked at what happens at Passover in a Jewish home.ย  Today we are going to move onto looking at some stories told to Jewish children in their homes at family times.

The first story today is the story of God’s Promise to Abraham.ย  We are going to watch 3 small cartoon videos which will tell us the story.ย  At the top right hand corner of this You tube screen you will see a little lined box with a play sign in the corner. Click on it and go to episode 7. Click on that and watch episode 7 (Abrahmam and Lot), episode 8 (Abram to Abraham) and episode 9(Sarah Laughs)ย  I hope you enjoy them.

God made a special promise to Abraham? What is a promise? Talk to someone in your house about this.ย  Have you ever made a promise to someone? Did you keep it.ย  Did god keep his promise? Promises are very special and you should never make them unless you know for sure that you can keep them.

Task :-ย ย We are going to make a a picture of Abraham outside of his tent.ย  Attached is the template to colour and cut out and a short video showing you how to make it.

Health & Wellbeing: Food Hygiene

Good morning P.2! I hope you all had a lovely weekend? I wonder if you had as much fog as we did here in Fife?

This week we are going to start looking at food hygiene – hygiene is a fancy word for clean and healthy.

In the link below, I’d like you to first of all scroll down and watch the short video. Then scroll back up and play the Crazy Kitchen game. You’ll need an adult to do this with you so that you can chat about what the problems in the kitchen might be.

Here’s the linkย https://www.foodstandards.gov.scot/education-resources/crazy-kitchen

Have fun!

P1M Sumdog ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hello!

Just a quick update to say thank you to everyone who took part in our latest Sumdog challenges!

Reading a Graph, Measure Challenge and a Challenge set by Sumdog were all completed by LM, EC, MMcK, SS, FF and PM. Well done everyone! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

I sent some coins as a reward to you when the challenge ended last Friday. ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ.

I would also like to say a BIGย Thank You to LMย for sharing some of the lovely work he had been doing last week!

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

Look at this lovely t-shirt he designed with the beautiful rainbow on it! ๐Ÿ‘•๐ŸŒˆ

He also sent me some of the Gaudi art tasks he completed. They are all very impressive! ๐Ÿง๐Ÿข๐Ÿธ๐ŸฆŽ

Finally just to let you know how our little plant is getting on. As you can see it’s not so little anymore! It seems to be very happy on my kitchen windowsill. ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒธ

Take a look at the sunflower plant we got from Mrs Fairley’s son. When we had it on our classroom windowsill it was tiny. I took it home and planted it in my garden and look how much it has grown. I think we might see the flower head quite soon! ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒป

Have a lovely day boys and girls!

Mrs Black’s P.4 Writing: Week Beginning 15th June

Good Morning P.4! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend?

We’ll be continuing to use Pobble365 for the next few weeks.

Firstly, go to the website:ย https://www.pobble365.com/

There’s a different image every day, along with various activities. Use the right and left arrows to scroll through the different pictures. TOP TIP – In the top right hand corner of the picture there’s an ‘expand’ arrow – click on this to see the full picture, as the one in the main screen often cuts important parts of the image out.

Choose from When We Were Young (June 14th, make sure you expand the picture), The Line-Out (June 17th), or Underneath (June 18th, make sure you expand the picture).

Tasks

Question Time – find an adult or older sibling to discuss the questions. No writing necessary for this task, it’s just to get you thinking.

Sentence Challenge – Follow the instructions for the task, writing your answers down on a piece of paper or in a jotter.

Sick Sentence – Read the sentence. You’ll notice the the nouns don’t have adjectives, and the verbs don’t have adverbs. Rewrite the sentence and up-level it by adding an adjective for each noun, and an adverb for each verb.

Challenge – If you’d like an additional challenge you could try using the Story Starter and continue writing the rest of the story!

The whole task, picture and questions, is attached as a document so that it’s easier to print out if you prefer.

Happy writing!

Mrs Black

Sentence Activity for Mrs Black’s Groups 2, 3 & 4

Good morning!

Read Write Inc are launching a new live lesson this week based on one of the activities from their phonics programme – it’s called ‘Read and Hold a Sentence’. The teacher will say a sentence, and the children will be asked to ‘hold’ it in their heads and then use their phonics skills to write it down. There are two different lessons, simply called Read and Hold a Sentence 1, and Read and Hold a Sentence 2.

I would recommend starting all children on level 1 for this, and if they find it easy, progress onto level 2.

All lessons are available from 9.30am. The YouTube channel link is here:ย https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Please get in touch with any questions.

Thanks

Mrs Black
