P3 RME Senses in Shabbat 2

Hello Primary 3!😊

Let’s see what we can remember from last week. We were  using our senses and looking  at some other features of Shabbat.  What are our senses? Smell, sight hearing, taste and touch. We watched a video from BBC Bitesize  of celebrating Shabbat at home. What things happened that we need to use our senses for?

  • Hearing – listening to blessings being made.
  • Tasting – wine or grape juice from the kiddush cup.
  • Tasting – Challah bread(sweet, almost like a cake)
  • Sight – watching the Shabbat candles being lit.

Step 1:- Today we are going to continue using our senses and while we are watching the BBC bitesize clip – celebrating Shabbat in the synagogue(Jewish holy building) we are going to look out for things we hear, see, noticing anything people touch, smell or taste.

What did you notice?  Write down anything you saw in the video.

I saw

  • Hearing – singing, Rabbi reading in Hebrew.
  • Touching – cover on the torah Scrolls
  • Sight – prayer shawl, Kippah, eternal light, Torah scrolls

Do you recognise what each item is?

Step 2:-  Pick one of the Jewish artefacts above and draw a picture of it.  Find out some information about what it is and what it means.  Write a few sentences underneath your picture.
