Reading
Choose one of the activities from the guided reading grid supplied in your home learning pack. Remember to access the book of the week you can do so by visiting the website below or you can apply any of the tasks to a book of your choice from home.
Our focus book for this week is ‘Mix, Mix, Mix’. Re- read the book with the help of an adult.
Can you retell the story in your own words to an adult? You could even draw a story map of the order of the story to help you sequence what happens in the story. Below is an example of a story map for Little Red Riding Hood. This is a great visual way to help you recall the order of events in a story and a fun activity if you like drawing.

The new sound focus this week is ‘w’ which is a red sound (made using our lips) and it is stretchy like our snake. Yesterday I sent you on a word hunt for the sound and asked you to make the letter shape using any materials you found around your home. Today lets have a go at using the sound to make some words. Use your purple jotters. Have an adult sound out the letters and can you listen and slide them together to make a word.

Then have a go at writing the word on your own and draw a picture to go with the word. Remember to listen carefully to each of the sounds in the word and make sure you form each letter carefully and rest it on the line.

I hope some of you managed to catch the money lesson from Natwest yesterday over on Facebook live.
One of my little boys favourite game is to play shops. To help you get used to using different amounts of money why not set up your own shop role play area at home or in your garden.
You could decide what your shop is going to sell and collect lots of items and think about how much you would like to sell them for (pretend of course!) You can make price tags for your items and then invite members of your family to come shopping. You could even design signs for your shop.

Have an adult help you with writing out the prices. Don’t forget to use £ and p!
I would love to see some pictures of your shops if you decide to give it a go. Get an adult to take a picture and email it to our school office.

It is very important that we know how to keep safe when crossing the road. Below is a very short clip outlining a few key messages for you to learn to help you stay safe when crossing the road with an adult.
Once you have watched the clip can you share with an adult 3 of the most important actions you can take when crossing the road.

Hello everyone! I hope you managed to pick up your new learning packs, these should keep you going for the next couple of weeks at least.
Literacy: I have included spelling lists again in your new packs so you can continue learning your next set of words each week. Remember to practise these throughout the week. See if you can find a new way to practise your words.
-note down the story you chose and say why you picked it? Give a review on it – what did you like/not like about it? Would you recommend it to someone else to listen to or read?
Numeracy – Write out your 5 times table and ask someone at home to check you have them all correct and to test you on these!

Bonjour. Today we are going to be working out Time Taken for a journey. If you look in the folder for today / blog, you will find your work.
Like yesterday, you have to carefully read and understand the instructions / examples to be able to use the formula accurately. For Q. 8 you can use a calculator but still show some kind or working. If you don’t have a calculator just leave it out. Take your time especially with Q.10 and Q.11 as they are problem solving questions. Read them carefully.

For the activity below you will need a dice. Roll the dice, if for example you roll a 3 go to the 3 dice pattern look along the row, what oa or ai word can you find? Carry on until you have found all six words then in your jotter copy the pictures and write the matching word underneath.

Our new sound is w. W is a stretchy red sound. Try saying it, look at yourself in the mirror, can you see the shape your lips are making? Now try blending the following w words-

I hope you have enjoyed reading The Ice Rink ebook from Oxford Owls and you completed the 2 activities. Today I would like you to unscramble a sentence (as we would normally do in class). I would kindly ask an adult to copy a sentence from the book. Cut up each word, mix the words up and then put the words back in the correct order. Remember to use the ebook to help! You can copy the sentence into your jotter and draw a picture to match.

There are different spring activities for you to complete and why not give some of the Spring craft ideas a go!! Ask a grown up to help you.

At this challenging time, the world has adopted the rainbow as the symbol of hope.
Using the theme of the rainbow, these learning activities suit a variety of ages. Older children could support learning for their younger siblings, and many of the activities can be used as family learning opportunities.
Let’s start by looking at the rainbow and why it has become the symbol of hope at this time!
Make a rainbow – using stones which you can find in the garden or when out for a family walk. Paint the stones and make your own rainbow. Put it in the garden for everyone to see
Time to be reporters –interview your family members to find out how they are feeling, what they like most about self-isolating and what they like least. Have they had to do this or anything similar before in their lives?
