Today I would like you to complete one of the guided reading activities from your learning pack. – Try your very best to write at least 2 sentences describing your favourite part of the story and draw a picture to go with it. For example my favourite part is when Gran tells them they can sleep in the loft. I can imagine all the fun they are going to have and stories they are going to tell each other. Enjoy!

Activity 4- Art and Design

I am not sure if you have noticed, but there are a lot of birds around at the moment, I can hear them singing day and night. They have always been there but because there are less aeroplanes and traffic we are able to hear and see them more clearly. I thought it might be a good idea to make a bird feeder for them.

Here are the instructions on how to make a cheerio bird feeder.

What you will need-

pipe cleaners

Cheerios

Instructions

1.Make a small hoop at the end of a pipe cleaner

2. Thread the cheerios through

3. Once the pipe cleaner is full of cheerios twist the 2 end pieces together and bend the feeder into any shape you want.

4. Go outside and find the perfect place to hang your bird feeder and then wait for the birds to enjoy a tasty treat.

I hope you enjoyed the WWF challenge (to make a habitat) and look forward to seeing pictures of your completed models. Activity 2 – Arts and Crafts

If we were at school we would be looking at forests and woodland creatures and I know one creature that we all would like to find out more about would be owls. So lets begin by making one.

       Firstly draw an owl shape (see in the picture)

 

 Then tear different colours of paper and stick them onto your owl shape. Cut out yellow eyes, break and feet. Stick them on and cut round the owl shape. Easy! Enjoy

 

 

 

Activity 3- Topic

S.C.I can record 3 interesting facts about owls

Try to find out 3 interesting facts about owls and record your findings on a fact file. If you have any books at home they may be useful or ask an adult to help you search online. One fact that I found out was that Owls ears are unlike our ears. They are located at the side of their heads but one ear is higher than the other.  I have made one that you can copy into your jotter, or make your own.

I hope your enjoyed reading Everyone Got Wet and completed the tasks. Today I would like you to to complete an activity from your guided reading pack. I would like you design a new front cover for the book. You can keep the title but think about another picture that would give you a clue as to what the story is about. Remember to include the author and illustrators names on the front cover. Enjoy!

Why not have a go at making your own spring blossom tree. You could draw around your arm and fingers. This could make the tree trunk and branches. Then use pink paint or pink colouring pens for the blossoms. Enjoy and send any picture to the school (via email) . I would love to see them.

Plan a meal with your family. Ask everyone what is their favourite thing to eat is then decide (with the help of an adult) what you could help them to make. Things to think about-

Washing your hands  before handling any food

Tie your hair back if it is long

Wash any fruit and vegetables before cooking

Keep some foods in the fridge

Take care with sharp objects – always ask an adult to help

Remember to help to clear away and wash the dishes!

What is mindfulness, and why is it important?

Mindfulness is about focusing on the present, and being aware of what is going on both inside and outside, in a non-judgmental way. It’s about noticing physical sensations and emotional responses, as well as your connection to other people and to your surroundings. (first discovers)

Mindfulness is a tool we promote in school as it has many benefits described below.

It helps to increase attention span

It helps you understand and regulate your emotions

It helps with stress management and general wellbeing

It helps you become more aware of your body and your senses

It helps to develop empathy and compassion for others.
