Welcome to this week’s blog. It has been another busy learning week at Deans. Some highlights the children wanted to share with you.
Maths – Time
This week we have been learning to tell the time. We have been ordering days of the week, seasons and exploring months of the year. On Monday, we began to focus on o’clock times and next week we will look at half past. The children have made their own clocks and have been challenging each other to tell the time. Writing- The Three Billy Goats Gruff
This week we continued with our narrative writing genre and used The Three Billy Goats Gruff story to help us. Firstly, we read the story, then we sequenced it-
Then we used puppets to re-tell the story-
Next we re-told the first part of the story including the “who and where”-
Lastly we challenged each other to make a bridge big enough for the troll to fit under-
Scotland
We have celebrated Rorbert Burns birthday this week by reading stories about Hamish McHaggis (ask your child to tell you about him). The children love hearing him speak Scottish, for example – “stop your blethering!”, “haud your wheesht!”. We have also attempted to create our own Deans tartan-
