Primary 2

Scotland

We have been looking at the famous artist Steven Brown this week and made our own McCoos.

We also looked into the history of tartan and made some of our own tartan.

Writing

For our narrative topic, the children had Mrs Stewart’s job for the day and they had to decide what they would do when something went wrong! Some of the children were giving Mrs Stewart her job back but other children thought they would make a good boss.

Basketball

We are working hard to be aware of the space around us to be able to pass the ball to our partner. We are still working on our dribbling skills, as it is not easy to move around the hall without bumping into someone and bouncing the ball at the same time!

This Week in P3

LiteracyIn reading this week, we have been developing our reciprocal reading skills. We also had to create questions about the text to ask a friend. We then had to identify the key details of the story in order to summarise the text.In writing this week, we continued to develop our narrative writing skills. We were using our imagination to create a story about a magic key. We had to read over our work to check that we had used our core writing targets.MathsIn maths this week, we were continuing to learn about time. We were focusing on o’clock and half past. Throughout, the day we would check the time on the analogue clock. In numeracy, we continued to look at subtraction. We were learning about the column subtraction method. This is where you take away the ones colum and then the tens. With some equations, we needed to regroup.IDLIn RME, we were looking at the Christan bible story. We were learning about Jonah and the whale. As a class, we had create a discussion about moral decisions Jonah had to make and what our personal views were on these decisions.

P4 Class 28.01.2022

What a great week we had!

We have been revising on all our past numeracy and maths work.  It has been great to see that we remember most of the concepts we have learnt.

We have been learning to highlight key words and information while we read a text.  This helped us skim and scan for information much quicker as we try to answer questions about the text.  We wrote another story about Draco (the dragon) this time we have put in speech within our story.

We have also been learning to multiply 3 digit numbers by 1 digit.
