Primary 1B Learning Highlights

We have had a wonderful and very busy first week back in Primary 1B. It has been lovely to see so many smiling faces and see so many of the children so eager to resume their learning.

Health and Wellbeing

We have begun to explore a new topic this term focusing on ‘Healthy Me’. We started by discussing what the word Healthy meant to us. We drew some pictures of us making our own healthy choices and wrote about what we do to keep our bodies healthy.

The children all had fantastic ways to suggest how to keep our bodies healthy. We are a healthy bunch in Primary 1B.

Kellan – Brush your teeth twice a day.

Leighton – You should eat bananas.

Reuben – You can eat lots of vegetables like broccoli, tomatoes and cauliflower.

Kaleb – We can keep our bodies clean by washing our faces and hands.

Cooper – We get fresh air and exercise.

We read a wonderful story about a very unhealthy wolf called Wilfred who managed to turn his life around to become fitter and healthier.

This story inspired us to pledge to make our own healthy choices. Here are some of our ideas…..

Writing

This week in writing we had a go at writing a ‘recount’ piece of text. This is where we think of an event which has happened and we retell it in our own words. To begin with we kept it simple and wrote about ‘playing’. We talked about a time we had great fun playing and simply wrote about it. Have a look at some examples below, we are very proud of our hard word.

Numeracy

This week we have been working on our subtraction skills. Seeing the weather has been kind to us, we decided to take our learning outside to practise this skill. We had lots of fun making up our own subtraction number stories.

We hope that the sun continues to shine for us next week too. We hope you enjoyed reading our blog.
