Calderwood Communication (For information):

Reporting an absence

A gentle reminder that when reporting an absence during term time this should be done through the school office on 01506 280060 or wlcalderwood-ps@westlothian.org.uk

As our nursery staff are on the floor playing and learning with the children therefore the nursery phone or messages are only checked at specific times.

Photo Day

Tempest Photography visited the nursery on Monday and the children had their individual and sibling photo. We appreciate the families who took the time to wait whilst the system was down. You will receive an email and be able to order your photos online.

Mealtimes at Calderwood Nursery – ordering lunch

Last week we trialled ordering lunch using an online form. However, following feedback from our families some of you said you preferred choosing a lunch with your child as you arrive at nursery so you can consult with your child. Therefore, if you arrive with your child in the morning you can continue to order on the register. However, if you have a child who attends PM sessions please complete the form to order your lunches by clicking here.

Application for Primary 1

A gentle reminder that application for Primary 1 2023/24 should have been completed by 31st December. If you have not completed the forms for your child, you can find more information as below. We would encourage you to apply for a place as soon as possible.

HOME LINKS:

This week we have been interested in learning about Scotland and Robert Burns.

You might want to learn a Scottish poem, song or some Scots Wirds with your child.

FAO Parent of Primary 5 pupils – Bramble & Thistle Clans

Your child has been recently involved with a music initiative called ‘Artistic Rhythms’ with Limelight Music. They have been learning and creating music inspired by world artworks from 3 countries in 3 continents – Tanzania, Brazil and Scotland. These countries have been chosen for their rich cultural heritage, which often brings the art forms of dance, music, poetry, rhythm and visual art together.

The block of learning is due to come to an end and the last session will be held on Tuesday 7th February. While I appreciate the short notice and other opportunities to visit school that week are already in place, Limelight would like to invite you in to share what your children have been learning. We will record the final sessions for any parents unable to attend and this will be shared at our ‘Caledonian Clan Celebration’ event.

There are two sessions, your child will know whether they participate in the first group before break or the second group after break.

Session 1 – 10.00 – 10.25
Session 2 – 11.15 – 11.45

We look forward to sharing this amazing learning and welcome you to join in if you wish.

Home Learning Choice Boards Term 3 2022/23

As a school, we are currently re-evaluating our home learning grids. We are firstly focusing on P5-P7 home learning and are making changes to reflect the views expressed by champions, pupils and parents. We will then explore home learning from P1-P4.

The current P5-P7 home learning grids will last for a duration of 4 weeks. The next homework to be issued will have changes and alterations, and will reflect our new  home learning structure in P5-P7. This has been discussed with all pupils at this stage. Further information will be issued along with our new grids.
