Well, how did we get here? I’m not really sure but here we are indeed! Mrs Clegg and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and carers for all of your support since school began in August. Children learn best when we work as a team and these children are certainly benefitting from the co-operative effort.
So having said that, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a joy-filled New Year!

Sorry for the delay in this post! We recently enjoyed a VE Day party in class. We had lots of fun completing WW2 activities, these included making a model Anderson shelter. We also ate some ‘delicious’ mock banana sandwiches, as there were no bananas around during the war people boiled and mashed parsnips as an alternative. Some of us enjoyed the sandwiches much more than others!! We enjoyed dressing up and wearing the gas masks we made in class earlier that week.

All the Primary One pupils had a fantastic Christmas party this morning! There were games and a great disco with our very own DJ. Thanks to Mr Bowtle-McMillan for providing the tunes and the microphone. Then, much to our surprise, Santa took time from his busy schedule to visit! What more could a five year old ask for?

P4 and 7 have been enjoying using Yammer through Glow Scotland. We have a private group for each class for them to share their learning and ideas and to learn how to be responsible online users. Each class has its own group that pupils should use ONLY. We have been discussing how to use online programs responsibly and respectfully, creating new threads about our learning, using GIFs to add to what we want to say and creating polls to gather information.

The Eco group would like to help to make it as easy as possible for you to recycle your Christmas cards. We are going to collect your old Christmas cards in a box at the school entrance and then make sure that they are all correctly recycled. Your cards can be handed in from the 9th – 19th of January. We have been inspired by The Lorax story in Primary 5 and have been thinking what a world would be like with no trees! We had a class debate about whether a rainforest in Brazil should be cut down. Half of the class were asked to argue for the trees being chopped and down and the other half argued against it. This gave us a great opportunity to put our debating skills to the test and it also helped us to use our learning about the importance of trees and looking after the environment. We have also been creating information leaflets which give helpful hints and tips about how to care for the environment.

Primary 4 would like to find out about people’s traditions at this time of year. They created a survey to complete and even made a QR code for it! We will use this information to sort out celebrations that are religious or non-religious.
