Pollination Celebration and Afternoon Tea!

Mrs Gaspar and the Perfect Pollinators would like to thank everyone who made last Thursday afternoon such an outstanding event! We were all delighted with every aspect and, for the pupils, it was a very rewarding experience as two years of planning came to fruition. Look out in the West Lothian Courier this Thursday or next for photos of the day.  Here are a few of ours.

Building a reading culture PATPAL

This afternoon we invited parents into school to find out more about the work that we have been doing to promote reading within the school. The attached presentation gives information about some of the events and initiatives that have been taking place within school.

Parents also visited classes so that they could join in with the learning that was taking place.

Pollination Day Success!

Many thanks to all staff, pupils, families and community residents  who contributed to make our pollination work such a success. We were delighted that, Steve, the lead of Polli:Nation could join us for the day and was a great help. We were grateful for donations of money/material, time and effort to construct our insect hotel, plant the gigantic stone containers in front of the school and to create a bee-friendly reflection space across the street. We were delighted to be able to complete our tasks in one day!  Here are just a few of many pictures from the day.  Primary 2 even released some pollinators to mark the occasion.

Short but busy!

Primary One classes have certainly packed a lot into this short week.  We learned why many butterflies are so brightly coloured.  We now have all of our tricky words on the wall.  We understand what we need to do to be safe in the summer sun.  We got a start on our fantastic assembly by learning some songs.  Of course, we also did a lot of tricky maths and some challenging comprehension in literacy.  Thank goodness it is the weekend!  Enjoy, everyone.
