Bellsquarry Primary School

P1, Bees and Litter

It’s been two weeks since our last update so there is a lot to tell you.  Here are some highlights from our learning experiences.

Last week, we were very fortunate to have a visit from John, the beekeeper. Although he does not normally include P1 in his visits, I politely explained that Primary 1 had launched ‘Pollination’ and were the ones who had invited him to the school! He didn’t have much choice and the children were stellar. John was very impressed by their behaviour and bee knowledge. We could hardly believe it as he retrieved a stray honeybee and put it into his pocket for safe keeping. We were sure to emphasise that only beekeepers keep bees in their pockets!

This week, we went out to care for our environment by picking up litter in the playground. The pupils worked in pairs and did a very good job of it!

We also did some group problem solving using paper plates and counters and every group succeeded!

Today we had the great opportunity to visit the P5 classroom and see the fantastic Titanic shoe box models. We have a lot to aspire to in the future!

Have a lovely holiday weekend, everyone!
