Bee Keeper in P6

On Wednesday the 10th of May a bee keeper came to the school for our pollination project. When we went in to the GP room he told us a lot about his honey bees and showed us some pictures. Then he showed us his bee box with real life honey bees! After that he showed us the queen bee and explained why it had a coloured dot on it and why it was so long. He also showed us how he got the dot on the queen’s back. We thought that one of the most surprising things that we found out was that the bees make something called royal jelly out of lots of pollen, a bit of nectar and water. Afterwards they give it to the queen to eat to make it longer.
