For the Harvest Service at the church this week we have been researching all about food and where it comes from. We learned that we use 16 million tonnes of flour every year in Britain, there are recipes for bread made by Vikings, and we use giant combine harvesters to collect the wheat. We also learned that once upon a time the holidays in October were so that children could help bring in the harvest – we are glad that we don’t have to help with that now as we’d rather relax!
We enjoyed our walk to the church on Thursday and loved spotting all the signs of autumn coming on – luckily it was sunny and dry so we got there and back without getting wet. We hope you like the pictures of use doing our part in the service.
