Bellsquarry Primary School

A Wonderful Time of Year

When asked what we should put in our blog this week, Primary One unanimously wanted to talk about woodland animals and the harvest.

We spent a good deal of time this week learning about woodland animals.  We looked at squirrels, birds, bats, mice, hedgehogs, foxes, owls and badgers.  We learned about nocturnal creatures and those that hibernate.  We made fox faces to go with our owls on the woodland wall.  We had a vote and pupils decided that they wanted to wait until the foxes were up before we take and post a photo.

We saw lots of interesting pictures of Harvest Celebrations around the world and discussed how we celebrate the harvest in Scotland.  We learned some really fun harvest songs to go with our discussions.

It is hard to believe we have had five weeks in Primary One already.  The pupils are now old pros and proper P1 children.  Well done to them for settling in so well and so quickly!
