What Have P2 Been Up To?

Due to a few technical teething problems, P2’s blog posts have been offline since the start of term. Here is the class’ update for the last few weeks:

2.9.16:
This week, P2 have been very busy. We have been learning the new sound “sh” and identifying it in different words, such as shampoo, fish, wish and shake (Anna, Haaris, Murren, Jack R). We have also been working on laying out adding and taking-away calculations (Amelia). We practised our handwriting and this week, we focussed on the letter “c” (Calum). We worked on our topic, which this term is the Rainbow Fish. We learned what fish have on them – scales, mouth, fins and a tail (Maisy). We learned about how food helps us stay alive (Aaron) and move (Natasha). We practised saying “thank you” in French, which is “merci” (Calum).

9.9.16
This week, we have been settling very well into the routines of P2. We have been learning the new sound “ch” and identifying it in different words, such as church and chicken. We practised using full stops and capital letters in our Writing and tried to write more detail about a birthday party we had been to. In Maths, we consolidated our adding and taking-away calculations and we started to look at the properties of spheres, cylinders, cubes, cuboids and cons by playing “What’s in the Bag?”. This week’s Handwriting focus was the letter “o” and we looked at ways to make sure it the line connected in a beautiful circle. During RME, we discussed how celebrations are often accompanied by special meals and we described what this means to us. As part of Health and Wellbeing, we practised being Effective Contributors. We learned the Circle Time rules and met the Circle Time toy – Lily the cat!

16.9.16
We have had a super week in P2 and we have been very busy. We have been learning the new sound “th” and identifying it in different words, such think and that. We wrote about a trip we had been on in our writing and looked at ways to improve our work. In Maths, we looked at ways to describe 3D shapes and looked at their properties. We also found these shapes in objects in the classroom. In Health and Wellbeing, we discussed the importance of being sensible around medicines – for example, only taking it when an adult gets it for you, putting the lid back on and putting it away so no one else can take it by mistake and making sure the adult only gives you the right amount of medicine for your age.

More to follow! – Mrs WS
