Chinese New Year

This week we have started to prepare for our assembly which will be about the Chinese New Year. We gave out the different parts and have started to practise these in class. We have also been learning more about how the New Year is celebrated in China. One part of the celebrations involves hanging Chinese lanterns. We found out that the lanterns are often red in colour as this is believed to be a lucky colour. Yesterday we made our own Chinese lanterns using red and yellow paper. We are going to decorate these next week. Just like the lanterns in China, we have hidden riddles inside ours which would be read out and guessed during the lantern festival.
