Creative Crafts in P3/2!

During the past two weeks, we have been working really hard,  crafting our skills as writers, to compose sensory poems linked to work in Health and Wellbeing and Interdisciplinary learning. We began by sharing our own experiences of Bonfire Night and watched footage of some spectacular displays. In Talking Teams, we collated lots of descriptive words to create a mental picture of sights, sounds, smells and  tastes we associate with Bonfire Night. We have been learning how to draft, edit and refine our ideas and are really pleased with our collection of poems. Here are two examples:

“Fireworks”

 Rockets…

Boom!

Explode!

Zoom!

Orange sky.

“Bonfire Night”

The smell of…

burning hot fire

The taste of…

apples and sticky toffee

The sound of…

banging, whizzing , crackling

The sight of…

brilliant colours dazzling

The touch of…

a warm mug , snuggly gloves.

In our interdisciplinary work, we imagined ourselves  in the rainforest  and composed poems  about some of the  animals  we might see…

“The Tiger”

Deep in the rainforest,

quiet as can be,

out jumps a tiger

staring at me!

Ready to pounce

and eat me for his tea

But no!

he is not…

he’s going to catch fish

from the pond behind me!

“Crocodile”

Strong jaws

Sharp claws

Bumpy back

Thin tail

Big bites

Snap! Snap! Snap!

Muddy scales

Hiding in water…

Waiting for fish!

This week, along with all of our classes, we’re working hard on our Enterprise Challenge in readiness for the Christmas Fayre – hope to see you there and help us to make a profit!
