This week , P3/2 worked co-cooperatively with P1 on a mini interdisciplinary project. We found out about people in the past and now know why Bonfire Night is celebrated, as we learned about Guy Fawkes’ plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament. We used literacy skills to sequence events in the story and our class will be writing newspaper reports about the foiled plot, which we’ll age to make them look like authentic historical documents! In our health and well-being focus, we discussed ways of avoiding any danger or injuries and how to keep pets safe. Our functional writing task is to make a set of instructions explaining how to hold sparklers safely. In art, we made printing tools from bendy straws and created fantastic pictures of exploding fireworks to add to our wall displays. We’re learning to use interesting descriptive words and will be trying our hand at composing firework poems, using WOW words! We’ll post some of our sensory poems on the blog when they’re finished.
Bang, crackle, pop!
