Bellsquarry Primary School

Welcome to Primary 3!

We’ve really been enjoying the first few weeks of Primary 3. We have been learning lots of new things such as…

In Maths, we have been investigating 3D shapes – we looked at vertices, right angles, faces, edges and 2D shapes. We have been making our own 3D shapes using straws and sellotape (some are already on our wall display!) and from plasticine. We’ve also been looking at what we already know and what we are going to learn this year.

In Health, we have been thinking carefully about learning. We learned what a Perfect Pupil, Terrific Teacher, Excellent Lesson and a Good Friend do/say/think/include. We made our class charter (ninja/star themed!) to show our rights and what we need to do to make sure we all get them.

Our first topic is Trees Around the World. We learned that there are seven continents and we will find out more about these during our topic. We looked at the world map and saw all the places we have been.

In Writing, we wrote stories about a giant coming to Bellsquarry. We read the story about Giant Jim and the Hurricane to inspire us. We made sure we included full stops and capital letters in our stories. We also wrote poems about Autumn. We used commas and rhyming words.

In P.E. we have been learning about movement and improving our ball skills.

In Art, we have been looking at Aboriginal art and are making our own. (Australia is our first stop in out topic)

In Music, we have been learning to play the Ocarina and adding percussion with claves.

In Science, we have learning about materials and their properties.
