Primary 6 – Parliament & Rules

This week, in Primary 6, we have been researching the definition of a ‘rule’.  We agreed that a rule is a statement which tells you what you are allowed/not allowed to do.  However, through class discussion, we also reached the conclusion that some rules are more flexible than others and have less consequences than others.  For example, a rule which states,

‘ no children should be allowed to watch television after 9:00pm’

may apply in some houses but not in others.  This  led us onto the interpretation and wording of rules and how important it is to word a rule clearly so everyone can follow it.  We are also creating our own rules posters, however, we are making them ‘positive’ as well as clear for others to follow.  Next, we are going to look at laws and what the difference is between a law and a rule.
