Well done to all the boys and girls who competed in the recent Whitburn Cluster Netball Festival. We got off to an excellent start winning 3 out of 4 of our games. The boys and girls were a credit to the school demonstrating an excellent standard of behaviour and sportsmanship. We are looking forward to our next festival in February!

School Sport Award
Meet our Junior Active Schools Coordinators-Nathan, Ellie, Ryan, Taylor, Harris and Elise. Together with Mrs Monahan, Mrs Bradley and Mr Boatman (Active Schools Coordinator) they have formed the Sports Committee and are working hard to make improvements to Physical Education in our school. This term they have been busy running a lunch time sports club for Primary 3 and 4 pupils and will be offering a sports club to Primary 1 and 2 pupils in term 3. They have also arranged for a score board to be put in the gym hall for use during class lessons and after school clubs. We will be applying for a school sport award which recognises excellence in physical education and school sport. You can read more about the school sport award at http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/schools/school-sport-awards/

Progress Report 2012/13
Each year, the school reports on how well we are doing. We value the partnership with parents and that is why it is important to share our standards and quality report with you.
Below are two files that you can download that inform you of the progress the school has made; a summary document and the school’s full standards and quality report. If you would like anything clarified, please contact the school via the usual channels.

Active Schools Silver Award
CONGRATULATIONS to the staff, pupils and parents of Greenrigg Primary for achieving their Active Schools Silver Award. This was achieved over the year for promoting a wide range of sports and health activities from nursery to primary 7. We have worked so hard that we are the first school to achieve this level within the Whitburn cluster! Great work everyone!

Health Week 2013
Today our Health Week activities began with a healthy picnic at Polkemmet Country Park. The upper school were visited by Morrissa Morris from Healing Paths who talked the children through basic steps to meditation and relaxation techniques. This was followed by an interactive demonstration and explanation of the history of Tai Chi and Qigong by Stuart Brown.
Our lower school pupils spent the afternoon at Whitburn Swimming Pool where they were given an initial assessment followed by a fun session.
We would like to thank Morrissa, Stuart and Whitburn Xcite staff for making our day so enjoyable.
