Coaching Football

Wel done to the members of the school football team. During their club this year, Miss Benson has allocated two or three pupils each week have planned and coached the sessions. They are given time together to research and try out new warm ups and skills activities. The pupils of the team have then been transferring what they learn to their own class PE lessons. Well done. Here we have a picture of Elise Hastie carrying out her session.

P7/6 Windfarms

Primary 7/6 have completed their collaborative topic with Stoneyburn. Our topic was an Eco topic about renewable energy, how the land is used and focused on wind farms. We have built our own wind turbines testing out the difference in blade shapes, amount and wind speeds. We have acted out a pro and cons protest to wind farms. We have tested wind speeds and how to use the wind to our advantage. We have looked at renewable and non renewable energy sources and the future in Scotland. To finish it all of we visited Whitelee wind farm in Glasgow to ask more questions and see the giants in action. Also look at our separate blog on poetry as we used the wind turbines for a poetry project with Julie Douglas.

Primary 7/6 have experienced some rugby coaching sessions in order to prepare them for their transition games at the High School during the transition week. On transition day one boy in particular was praised by the staff for the skill and talent he showed, well done Euian McWhir! well done to our girls, quite a few of them have discovered a new love for Rugby.

Goodbye Miss McGuire

In Primary 7/6 we had a pirate party to say goodbye and good luck to Miss McGuire. It was a great way to finish of a very interesting topic on Pirates. We wish her well with her class and probation year next session and thank her for all her hard work and amazing ideas.

yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me!

Healthy eating healthy minset

Primary 7/6 experienced food tasting in our Health Week. Thank you to Mrs Irvine, Mrs Hendry, Mrs Woodhouse and Miss Benson for preparing a variety of treats for us to try. We commend Primary 7/6 for their positive  mindset to this task and for trying most things. Some foods were very popular like mango and some not so popular like rhubarb, although the faces pulled when eating it were the best! Lots of pupils discovered a new love for muscles and smoked mackerel and re kindled their love of some fruits and vegetables. Well done boys and girls.

Sports day 2017

What a beautiful day for Sports Day. Well done to our amazing Mrs Crow for organizing such a fun and active day. We started out with whole school races and finished with potted sports. Everyone got involved including our teachers and amazing parents. Well done to house Ballie for the most house points today. I wonder if it will put you in the lead now?

Extra well done to the pupils who were all cheering each other on and encouraging each other to try their best in all activities.
