Class Moon

In Class Moon this week

With our maths, we have made a shop and been buying and selling things and giving change.

Mrs Thomson visited us for some art, we made clay ninja-bread men.

We had finished reading Gangsta Granny and the class loved the book so much we managed to find the tv show and have been watching it in parts through the week.

We have played together nicely and worked together to make a Christmas tree for the classroom.

P3b

This was an exciting week!

We got to go to our Rookie Rockstars performance on Wednesday or Thursday. We had lots of fun singing the songs we learnt for the CD> Some of us have bought the CD’s since they sounded amazing.

In maths, we have been using different strategies for adding and have also started learning about 3D shapes. 3D shapes are so cool because we made our Christmas tree decorations from them. To make a 3D shape, you need the net for it, which is a 2D shape! Our decorations look fantastic on our tree!

In Literacy, we were learning about adverbs. In writing, we wrote a letter to Santa asking him to come and visit all the P3’s at our Christmas Party, which is on 14th December at 1:30-3:00pm. We hope he can make it and isn’t too busy making the toys!

In LAC, we were learning about Global Warming and how it affects the weather. We learnt that we can try to prevent further Global Warming by working together as a team – not just in class or school but across the world. We all have to do our bit! We can do three things.
1. Switch off lights, (use less electricity), when we don’t need them.
2. Use cars less, use public transport more and walk to school if possible.
3. Reduce, reuse and recycle things.
We also looked at the water cycle and did an experiment for a water cycle in a bag.

Have a good weekend!

Primary 2/1 Blog – Week Beginning 4.12.17

Oh my goodness, we can’t believe that it is now December!!  We have started to talk about Christmas and have been learning about the different ways that people celebrate Christmas.   Here are the ways that we celebrate Christmas:

Rio – “I have an elf on the shelf breakfast, we have lots of pancakes”

Cameron – “When I wake up I go to my big sister’s bed for a cuddle”

Breaghannon – “I pull Christmas crackers with my mummy”

Teigan – “I wake up and go downstairs with my brother, mummy and daddy”

Emily – “I have an elf on the shelf breakfast too.  I get to make my own Santa pancake and my brother makes a Snowman pancake”

Rory – “Sometimes on Christmas Eve when Santa has gone, me and my brother sneak to see if there are presents in our stockings and then sneak to mum and dad’s room”

Millie – “On Christmas Day I get up and go downstairs to open my presents with my mum and dad”

Mason – “I wake up and shout “It’s Christmas”.  I wake my brother, mum and dad and am happy because the Elves and Santa bring toys in bags and socks.”

Aiden – “I go and open my stockings then I get to play with my new toys”

Poppy D – “I wake up and get my mum, dad and doggy.  I go downstairs to open my presents and try to guess what they are going to be”

Leila – “I wake up in the morning and I get my breakfast, we make  pancakes.  Later on we go to my dad’s house and open our presents there.  Then I open presents with my mum.”

Ellie – “The first thing I do is wake my mum and dad up.  We have a lovely Christmas dinner and open all the presents in our stockings”

Griffin – “On Christmas Day, my dog wakes me up and I take her outside.  I will go back inside and open my presents, but I might have to wake my dad up in case he sleeps in”

Regan – “Christmas Eve is time for cuddles.  I wake my sisters up on Christmas Day but we need to unwrap the door because Santa covers it in wrapping paper”

Daniel – “I stay in my house all day and open presents with my family”

Lucy – “On Christmas Day I go downstairs when everyone is awake.  When it is night-time I go to my gran’s house and eat turkey with my cousins, aunties an uncles.  We usually play hide and seek”

Brooke – “I wake up and wake my mum and brothers.  I go downstairs and we all open our presents”

Poppy F – “At Christmas time I go downstairs with my family and we go to my gran and granddad’s house.  In their living room we take the candy canes off of the Christmas tree”

Leah – “I wake everybody in my house up and then I go through the door to open my presents.  I have breakfast and then go to my gran’s for more presents”

Mrs Mansfield – “On Christmas Day Elvis the dog wakes me up.  We all go downstairs to see if Santa has been and we open our presents.  I go to visit my family and spend lots of time with them”

We can see that we all celebrate in different ways but they are all special to us.

Christmas Countdown 2017

Dear Parents, Carers and friends,

It is so hard to believe that we are at this time of year already! The recent cold snap has certainly helped with the wintry feeling! Christmas is now firmly upon us, and we have lots of events coming up you need to know about: they are all in this newsletter and  will be further detailed in our usual SWAY online newsletter which should be available by Friday 8th December detailing lots of exciting news about learning and the various opportunities our children will have the chance to experience.  Please do take a note of these dates.

Our Christmas events always begin with our annual Christmas Fayre which took place on Saturday 25th of November. This was an outstanding success, raising lots of money for our school (total to be announced soon!) There is absolutely no doubt that the success of our Christmas Fayre was down to the phenomenal hard work of our Parent Council and staff members! I would also like to thank the pupils and staff who worked so hard on their Christmas items, many of which sold out! Thank you also if you were a stall holder: your attendance has contributed to the success of our Fair and developed our community links. Thank you to Santa, for giving up his own time to be with us: we hope that we didn’t hold up toy production for too long! And finally, thank you to all those who came along on the day, or donated prizes or baking: each and every one of you contributed to our efforts to be a very special community, working to ensure our pupils can access a learning environment that is vibrant, challenging and engaging! I’d like to wish you all a very peaceful and joyful Christmas and wonderful New Year.

Head Teacher (Seconded)
