Class Moon – last week before the holidays!

It has been a great last week in Class Moon.  We have been celebrating two big birthdays!  We had a birthday part with Mrs Wilson and Mr Reid.  Everyone in the Autism Resource attended and we all had great fun.  We have also been learning about Easter and Easter traditions.  We had great fun rolling our decorated eggs at the park.  We have also been making Easter soft toys and practicing our sewing skills.  We all enjoyed making chocolate Easter baskets. We also enjoyed the cola experiment during science. This week was also Autism Awareness week.  Class Sun, Moon and Star made an Autism Awareness video for the whole school to watch and learn about Autism.  It was a huge success.  Well Done Everyone!!!!!

In Class Moon this week

With our maths, we have made a shop and been buying and selling things and giving change.

Mrs Thomson visited us for some art, we made clay ninja-bread men.

We had finished reading Gangsta Granny and the class loved the book so much we managed to find the tv show and have been watching it in parts through the week.

We have played together nicely and worked together to make a Christmas tree for the classroom.

Goodbye Miss Garland

It has been a fantastic week with Class Moon.  I am very sad to be leaving but I know you will all continue to thrive and progress.  You have been a great class to teach.  All pupils in the ARB have been fantastic to work with and made my time at Balbardie fantastic.  I wish you all well and hope to keep in touch with you all.

Fun at Judo!

It has been a very exciting week for Class Moon.  We got to have a Judo lesson in the hall and it was great fun.  we really liked learning how to roll in judo.  Miss Garland even put on the Judo outfit and had a shot too. We have also had a birthday party this week which was exciting.  Class Moon love celebrating each others birthdays. In literacy we have been learning about note taking and have been researching on the internet about our chosen planet which we have made.  We are going to use these notes for our class presentations.  We have also been learning how to design leaflets on the computer and we made Children in Need leaflets.

Adventure into Space!!!!

We have had great fun in Class Moon this week.  This week we have been looking at Elliot’s idea about learning what the weather is like on different planets.  The class have been so interested in this topic and we loved watching videos about the different planets.  We have been planning our class presentations and we had to choose our own planet to talk about.  We made our chosen planet using balloons and then painted these.  We have also created our front cover for our scrapbook.  Next week we will be learning about note taking and will take notes on our chosen planet.  We have also been learning about Remembrance Day and we made some poppy artwork.  On Monday we were learning about writing instructions and we were learning about creating firework safety rules.  We also had fun making chocolate sparklers.  Here is some pictures from our week:

Climate Action

It has been a great week in Class Moon.  On Tuesday we all loved our writing lesson as we had our own pumpkins and we designed and carved these.  We then wrote about our pumpkin.  We had some great descriptive words. In the afternoon we started our swimming block.  It was great fun going swimming and we are all happy we are going again.  We had great fun in Numeracy doing addition with the blocks.  This week we started our new Learning Across the Curriculum topic.  This term we are looking at weather and climate.  We all completed our KWL grid as we are going to be planning what we want to learn.  We have already started Elliot’s idea and have began making planets as we are going to learn about the weather and climate on different planets.  We have been making our own planets using balloons. Here is what Class Moon wanted to know about on their KWL grid:

Elliot – Storms on different planets and if Jupiter has hurricanes.

Charlie – What causes global warming?

Jake – What is happening up in the clouds?

Gabriel – Why is the sun so bright?  How does one steam make so many clouds?  Why does Global warming happen?

Logan – I want to find out about the sun.

 

Autumn Fun!

This wee we have been doing lots of art activities based around Autumn.  We made salt dough leaves and we also created pictures using outdoor materials such as leaves and sticks.  In our writing we created snap shots of our October holidays and then we had a writing activity based on this.  Miss Garland was so proud of us as we all carried out our writing independently.  We all earned a bonus sticker for our chart.  In numeracy we have been doing addition and subtraction and looking at numbers in words.  We all enjoy playing the maths games on education city.  We have enjoyed PE with Mr Jeffries.  We had a very special visit from an old class peer on Thursday.  Lewis came in to see all of us and all the children were very excited.  It was great to see Lewis again and know he is doing very well.  We had great fun with Lewis and showed him the rainbow room!

It has been a busy week this week in Class Moon.  We are really excited about our October holidays.  This week we have been finishing off our emotions book and they look fantastic.  Miss Garland is so happy with all the work and effort we have put in.  We have been counting in 2’s and 5’s in numeracy and have great fun playing the counting games and songs.  In literacy we have been learning our digraphs.  We all really enjoy the group work we do for this.  We have also been continuing with our following instructions through recipes and have had great fun making our different cakes.

Logan – I like cooking.  My favourite thing was the marshmallow m&m cakes.

Jake – I liked making top hats.

Elliot – I really enjoyed playing with K-9 and the Dalek.

I Can Cook!!!!!!

It has been a very exciting week during Literacy. We have been learning about writing recipes.  We have made Sunny Carrot Cake and we have learnt about different ingredients.  We had to follow a recipe on the Smartbaord and we each had to do our own cake so we could do it independently.  We then wrote our own recipes.  As a special reward for being so good we got to decide the next recipe and we chose Gummy Bear cakes.  We made these on Friday and it was great fun.  They are in the oven just now and we can’t wait to see them when they come out.  Here is what Class Moon has enjoyed this week:

Jake – I enjoyed integration in the big playground. I played with Gary.

Logan – I enjoyed cooking the carrot cake.

Charlie – I enjoyed rainbow room. I liked making the Gummy Bear cakes.

Elliot – I enjoyed playing in rainbow room with all my friends.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Class Moon have been learning through games in different subjects this week and we have all had great fun.  In Learning Across the Curriculum we are learning about different emotions and we have has great fun playing emotions snap, emotions loop cards and emotions bingo.  It was great fun playing snap.  Miss garland joined in our snap game and we all tried to beat her.  Logan came up with a great idea in maths.  As we are learning to numbers to 100 Logan suggested we use our Bingo game.  We have a ball spinner which we all love using.  It was great fun learning our numbers this way and Miss Garland enjoyed pretending to be a bingo caller.  “Two little dugs, 22”.

This week we have been having great fun during maths. We have been learning all about using our fingers to count and playing games that involves our fingers such as Peg game and Loop Cards.  We have also been outside on a number trail.  We had to count all the windows, doors, trees and other things that are in our playground.  We also were learning about ordinal numbers and we had great fun using the cars and ICT activities for this.  Here is what Class Moon likes about all our counting activities:

Elliot – I made a pixel art Tardis. I had to count and colour blocks.

Logan – We used cards in maths. I had to say what place they were in.

Gabriel – I liked doing outside maths. I had to count and add all the windows.

Busy Week In Class Moon!

That is week 2 now finished and Class Moon has been working very hard.

 

In maths we have been learning about numbers and have been doing addition and subtraction. We were all very good at the peg addition activity.  We have also been having fun playing addition and subtraction games on Education city.

 

In Literacy we are started a story writing activity.  It is all about dragons! We all made our own dragon and they look fantastic.  Miss Garland is very excited to learn more about our dragons.

 

We have started our LAC activities and our focus is friendship and emotions.  Our emotion we have focussed on this week is happy and we have been looking at things which make us happy.  We have also been caring, playing and sharing with friends.

 

We are continuing to enjoy art with Mrs Thomson and PE with Mr Jeffries.  We have all been using our new behaviour system and we love collecting points.

Welcome Back Everyone!

Welcome Back Everyone! Class Moon has had a great first week back and we have all been getting to know each other. We had 2 birthdays this week and had a birthday party for them.  We enjoyed PE with Mr Jeffries and we had our first art lesson with Mrs Thompson which was great fun.  We made different characters.  Here is what Class Moon enjoyed this week:

 

Logan – I enjoyed playing in rainbow room.

Elliot – I enjoyed building our Minecraft Lego set.

Jake – I enjoyed my birthday party.

Gabriel – I enjoyed my drumming lesson with my integration class.

Charlie – I enjoyed my rainbow room birthday party.

Have A Great Summer!

We have all had a great last week.  Everyone in this class has reached the Golden Club.  We all had a great time.  Miss Garland had far too much fun on the bouncy castle and slide.  We all loved the event and had so much fun.  We also have had a wee birthday party this week.  We played some party games.  We all won a prize.  We are enjoying our last day.  Gabriel and Logan enjoyed going to church.  We hope you all have a fantastic holiday.

Gabriel – I have enjoyed the Golden Club event.  I liked the slide and the bouncy castle.

Logan – I liked going to church.

Charlie – I loved the party.  I won a Star Wars prize.

Jake – I liked the bouncy castle.  I didn’t go inside.

A New Puppy!

It has been a very exciting week in Class G.  Miss Fisher has just bought a new puppy called Stanley and he is a Cockapoo.  He was very cute and very friendly and everyone loved clapping him and giving him treats.  We also had our last out and about this week and as a special treat we went to Kelly’s.  It was great fun at the ice-cream was delicious.  It was Gabriel’s assembly this week with primary 3/2 and we were all excited to go and watch him.  He was fantastic.  Well Done Gabriel.  Here is some comments form Class G:

Erin – This week I went to Kelly’s ice-cream parlour.  I had a vanilla ice-cream cone. It was delicious.  I liked walking in the fresh air.

Shea – Miss Fisher’s dog.  Black dog.  I tickled the dog.

Gabriel – I liked Kelly’s.  It was fun.  I had vanilla ice-cream.

Logan – I enjoyed Kelly’s.  I had bubble gum and chocolate flavour.

Jake – I liked the puppy.  It is cute.

Art Work!

It has been a great week in Class G.  We have been learning about different artists with Mrs Spence and creating our own art work.  We have also been creating our own characters and this week we have been painting the characters we made and creating a profile for them.  We have been spending time in our new classes and making our resources for next year such as our IEP boards, snack mats, choose board, etc.  We have also been having fun in PE and also learning how to look after our body and what foods to eat during health and wellbeing. Here is what Class G had to say this week:

Charlie – We learnt about a famous artist from Glasgow.

Gabriel – I liked meeting Elliott.

Erin – I enjoyed PE with p2/1.

Jake – I liked PE especially choose time.

Logan – I built a den and it was really cool.

Move On Day and More

Well it has been a very exciting week.  On Wednesday we got to spend time with our new class.  Everyone was very excited.  We also got to meet a new pupil who will be joining our class.  We had great fun together making salt dough characters for a story we are planning.  Also this week we have been working on our healthy lifestyles topic and we were baking healthy snacks.  We watched and followed Katie on I Can Cook and everyone got to make their own cake.  Here is some comments from the pupils in Class G:

Jake – I built a big Lego tower.  I wanted it to be powerful.

Charlie – I enjoyed meeting the new boy in our class.  I also liked baking.

Logan – I liked making salt dough characters.  I made Batman.

Gabriel – I liked the salt dough characters especially mine.  My character is awesome.  I made Ribcage from Sand Adventures.

Erin – I liked playing with the sand and Playdoh.  I also liked PE and playing In The Night Garden.

 

Sports Day in Classes M O and G

Yeah! we were delighted that the sun shone on Wednesday so we could have our sports day. Although the sun made it tiring we all tried hard in the races. The adults found it very tricky to capture us as we ran because we were running so fast.

Shea enjoyed trying to balance egg for the egg and spoon race.

Dylan tried hard to keep running fast in the sprint race.

Erin, Yoile, Logan, Aiden, Adam and Jayden found the sack race a challenge but enjoyed trying to keep inside the sack as they moved!

David, Cameron and Joe all had a few great ideas to keep the egg on the spoon steady for the race.

Cody has been practicing in the lead up to sports day and made sure he was warmed up and ready to go.

Charlie was determinded to beat Miss Garland in the sack race!

Outdoor Learning

It has been a very busy week in Class G with lots of outdoor learning.  At the start of the week we went to Poundland to learn about money and how to use money.  We had a challenge to be responsible for our own money and pay for our item independently.  We had to buy an item which could go in our empty choose tray.  Miss Garland was so proud of us as we could all pay for our item on our own.  During outdoor classroom day we all went into the big playground for a range of activities. We had great fun building a den and reading stories inside.  We also had the opportunity to play skittle counting games, draw a chalk maze, do some construction and look for insects.  We also had great fun playing games with bubbles.  Here is what class G have to say about their outdoor experiences:

Gabriel – I liked making a tent.  I was able to catch the tennis balls so they didn’t roll away.

Charlie – I liked PE.  I really liked that I got to go to PE twice this week.

Jake – I liked playing poison bubbles.  We all popped evil bubbles.

Logan – I liked screaming “bubbles”.

Shea – I liked drawing the Pinky Ponk with the chalk.

Erin – I liked going to the shop.  I bought a doll.
