Class Sun

Class sun have been working hard on their numbers up to one hundred, looking at place value, counting in steps, using the 2 times table or working on more and less.

In Language we have been looking at grammar and punctuation. Through out topic work we have been investigating lines for our art  and learning about the life cycle of plants and how a plant works.

We hope you all have a good long weekend.

ARB Trip

We, in Class Moon, absolutely loved our trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park. We enjoyed watching the sealion show and when we were on the coach going through the park we enjoyed seeing the tigers, meerkats and camels. We all had a fun time on the Dragon Ride and looked round the animal farm where we saw chickens, pigs, donkeys and horses. A super time was had by all!

Class Star had a great time seeing the animals and enjoyed making play dough animals when they came back to school.

Class Sun enjoyed the Dragon Roller Coaster and the sealion show.

Class Moon

Class moon have begun working on subtraction in maths, we are sequencing stories in language and they have all been enjoying balancing and jumping games in PE. In our Dr Who topic we are looking at Ancient Rome, how people lived when they were in the Roman army, what Gods they worshiped,  and making some Roman statuettes.

Well done to Elliot and Gabriel for participating in the school Scots poetry competition.

Class Moon

In Class Moon this week

With our maths, we have made a shop and been buying and selling things and giving change.

Mrs Thomson visited us for some art, we made clay ninja-bread men.

We had finished reading Gangsta Granny and the class loved the book so much we managed to find the tv show and have been watching it in parts through the week.

We have played together nicely and worked together to make a Christmas tree for the classroom.

Class Moon

This was our last week at the swimming for this term and the class had lots of fun with the floats and playing in the pool. On Wednesday, Gabriel had a party with his integration class, while we had a special visitor to our Christmas party and everyone enjoyed the games we played, especially the dancing games. In numeracy we have been working out how to make different values with coins and in language we have been writing up interview questions and creating a booklet with the interview answers.

P6b

This week in class we have been looking at creating light and shadow pictures inspired by our Harry Potter topic; building on our knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages and beginning to join them together; continuing to develop our newspaper writing skills and looking towards the Star Writer activities for our “Winter” themed piece of writing. As part of the school we also took part in a very interesting session for Remembrance Day and the Big Balbardie Blether on being Safe.

P6b

Our first week back has been very busy getting back into the swing of things. Our new topic is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and over the next few weeks we will be using this to look at substances, mixing, dissolving and changes in state. In maths we are starting to look at the connections between fractions and decimals, and we will be adding in percentages. Our language this week has been linked to our new topic and we have written a letter to Prof. Albus Dumbledore in response to his offer to become a student at Hogwarts.

P6B

We had fun in P6B this week when Callum from Cool Creatures paid us a visit to help out on our Rainforest topic. He brought with him an “aaaawwwwww” inspiring civet and chameleon, some Hercules beetle grubs (“eeewwwwww”), an armadillo and massive albino python (“whoa!”), as well as a tortoise that needed toilet trained and a host of stories from his time in the Amazon.
