Support Available

· If your child is diagnosed with a hearing loss then Audiology will refer your child to ASN Outreach Hearing Impairment Team where they will be allocated a Teacher of the Deaf. The Teacher of the Deaf is someone who will liaise with Audiology, the family and school to ensure that your child has access to what they need and is well supported in school. The Teacher of the Deaf can provide deaf awareness training in school to staff and share useful strategies for the classroom, they also support your child to build up their independence in using their hearing aids.

A Teacher of the Deaf can provide additional equipment such as Radio Aids to support the deaf pupil, as needed.

If you would like to speak to a Teacher of the Deaf, phone 01786 272333 or email asnoutreach@stirling.gov.uk
