Woodhead World Tour Week 3 – France

Woodhead World Tour 2020

Week 3

It’s Week 3 of our virtual tour around the world and our third stop is……

France

Option 1 – Tour de France : We would like you to plan you own cycle route and carry out your own cycling competition. In honour of the Tour de France.

It could be Tour de Hamilton!

During the Tour de France, riders who have proven themselves to be the best will be awarded a jersey. Can you design a jersey for an award of your choice?  You could draw it out or if you have the materials you could make a jersey using fabric paint or any other materials you might have in your house.

Option 2 – Bastille Day, or la Fête nationale (French National Day), is celebrated every year on July 14 to commemorate the Storming of the Bastille, a turning point in the French Revolution in 1789. It became a national holiday celebrated with huge fireworks displays and a military parade down the streets of Paris.

Many French people opt for low-key Bastille Day celebrations, spending their day off enjoying the warm weather with friends and family.

For a relaxed celebration at your own home, host a backyard picnic or barbeque with your family, You could make some French decoration to put up in your garden or play the well-known French game of pétanque.   You could watch previous videos of the Bastille Day parade, concert and fireworks from Paris.

Option 3: Come up with your own idea for an activity based on France.

Download the World Tour Passport and stamp the country once you have completed at least one activity.
