Message from the Headteacher (Updated 23.09.2021)
Schools have re-opened after the summer break following the same COVID-19 mitigations which were in place prior to the summer. This means that all pupils and staff are familiar with the routines and practices in place to help to keep our community safe. On 15 September 2021, the First Minister announced that face coverings will continue to worn in schools with the next review of this mitigation taking place at the October holiday.
At the same time, the Scottish Government announced that children and young people aged 12-15 years old, will be offered a dose of the COVID-19 vaccination from Monday 20 September 2021. This group will be offered their injections in drop-in clinics and community settings followed by each young person receiving a letter inviting them to attend a community clinic.
Following the initial phase, vaccines will be offered in both communities and schools so that anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated but would like to be has the opportunity to take up this offer.
The letter below from Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director, provides an update for parents and carers.
Mid-September also saw an update from Public Health Lanarkshire in relation to positive cases in schools and the actions to be taken by those considered to be a ‘low risk’ contact with a positive case. This updated information can be found in the letter below and we will direct parents and carers to this letter when positive case are identified in school. Rather than direct all parents and carers to the letter each time a positive case is identified, Public Health have asked that schools take a more refined approach directing a specific set of parents and carers to the letter such as those from a specific year group.
All documentation in relation to school Health and Safety has been updated and the school’s risk assessment can be found below.
We shall continue to update this page as information is received by schools.
Best wishes and take care.
