Amazing Clan Coffee Afternoon

We are very pleased to announce that the Urafirth School coffee afternoon has raised £750  and still counting!  A massive thanks to all the people who came out in the terrible weather to support this cause and of course to all the people who baked and contributed raffles and crafts for the sales table.  It is great to see the generosity of folks for this worthwhile charity.

Pitch In Day!!!

What a great day we had for our Pitch In, we got lots done and everybody that came worked really hard.  We got delivery of an old boat for our playground, ahoy matey !!!  I think I was the most excited about the launching of the boat out of the trailer !!!!!

Lunch was delicious with everyone contributing something for sharing.

Thank you very much again for all your hard work.

Santie’s lost his sproots!!!!! – Miss Laurenson

Santie’s robin arrived in P1-4 today with a letter from Mrs Claus.  She had a problem and needed the bairns to help.  A naughty elf had stolen Santie’s favourite vegetable, brussels sprouts, which meant he was going to be without them for his Christmas dinner!!!!

Mrs Claus asked the bairns if they could please look around the school to see if any had been hidden here.  As you can see, we found quite a few!!!

Trip to the Museum – Miss Laurenson

Here are some more photos from our Mareel and Museum trip this term.  Great excitement on the bus on the way to Lerwick.

We had our lunch at the Museum then we all got scavenger hunt sheets to explore the Museum.  Some of us were looking for pictures of Vikings, and some of us were looking for items beginning with different letters.

Christmas Festivities

Pupils and staff have had a super time celebrating the run up to Christmas.  The Early Years Department held a fantastic concert with teas and games afterwards.  Later on the same day the Primary Department treated parents and members of the community to ‘Hansel and Gretel’.  The audience showed their appreciation by laughing at the ‘gags’.  The show was followed by some fiddle playing and carol singing from our very talented pupils.

Members of the community kindly came in to show all the pupils how to make Christingles and other Christmas crafts.  It was great to host this event in the school and thanks again to all involved.

Upper Primary Assembly

P5-7 led a very interesting Assembly today, where they showcased their work from last term.  They shared their personal and academic targets for the term, showed their appreciation of determination and resilience through the story of Robert the Bruce and the spider and demonstrated that to get good at something – whether work or pleasure – you have to work at it.  Practice, practice, practice!
