We have had a great start to Primary 7 and what a bright and bubbly class we have this year.
John Muir Day 3
On Friday 19th April, the P7s had their final John Muir day out with Pete Richardson. It was a beautiful sunny day and so Pete decided to take us up to Eshaness to have a wild cliff adventure.
He took us down onto a cliff beach for our lunch no.1 and then anyone brave enough could shuffle down another rock face and look into an enormous cave. There were puffins on the ledges and the kittiwakes were back on their nests.
We walked back up along the cliff a little bit further and then cut inland to the Holes of Scrada and the peerie broch.

Spanish
On Monday 16th we had our first Spanish lessons with Mr Harpe. It was really interesting to see how different to French Spanish sounds. We learnt some basic phrases, including greetings, and introducing ourselves and said where we live. Next week we’ll be learning the Spanish alphabet.
French topic presentations
Our groups have all finished their topic displays and presented all their information to the rest of the class. There was some really excellent information and really imaginative ways of presenting it.
Pen pal cards
What a fantastic selection of cards we’ve been making this week for our pen pals in Cannes. We have written all about SMUHA and included photos, so that they have a really good understanding of our fire festival. Ms Scanlan thinks they will love them 💖
French Food
This afternoon we had a great time trying a few traditional French foods, that our Cannes pen pals eat. We tried baguettes, Camembert, Brie, Boursin, blue cheese, green and black olives, croissants, chocolate crepes and profiteroles .
Tryphena, Joanna, Mirrin and Faith helped to set everything out and kept everyone fed!
It was great to see lots of the class trying new foods and even enjoying them!
French cards
We received  some more lovely cards from our French pen pals. This time they told us all about the festivals that they have at this time of year. We are writing back to tell them all about SMUHA and the other UHAs in Shetland.
SMUHA display
Faith, Nathyn and Mirrin, with the help of Mrs Graydon, have put up a really super SMUHA display in the corridor, come along and have a look.
Lessons about hearing
Poppy Neild came to see us this afternoon to teach us about hearing.  She gave us lots of interesting information and also taught us how to use the British Sign language alphabet. She was very impressed by the speed at which Callum could spell out words. We’re looking forward to seeing her again next week.
SMUHA WEEK
What a fantastic week we had last week.
Mrs Henderson had organised a busy week of activities including a visit from the NSPCC, Traditional dance with Maria Leask, a museum visit and activities with Stephen and Esther Renwick and Art and craft with Mrs Leslie. There were also lots of SMUHA activities including making the programme, key rings, home bakes and making sure that all the squads were ready.
Shane (Bjorn Ironsides) and his P7 squad led the procession and we were so lucky with the weather. We had a great time in the Boddam hall, with all the entertainments and the visit from the SMUHA squad.
