Numeracy

This term has seen us working on the topic of Place Value, Rounding and Estimation.  Today, we added in some Information Handling work into our Rounding lessons and revisited how we use Venn Diagrams to organise information.

The children were given labels for each part of their Venn Diagram.  They then had to create the numbers to go in each section, remembering to include those that fit both categories and those that fit none!

We then checked each other’s calculations and some pupils had time to create their own labels and numbers at the end of the lesson.

Class Charter

Our first task in our Health &  Wellbeing work this year was to create our class charter.  This involved the pupils in choosing which Articles from the UNCRC most relate to our time in school together.  They chose …

Article 12 – You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously.

Article 19 – You have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body and mind.

Article 28 – You have the right to a good quality education.

Article 31 – You have the right to play and rest.

They then created a set of responsible behaviours for each Article that they, as the Rights Holders, will try to uphold.  They also discussed the role of the Duty Bearers and discussed what they would like staff to consider too.

Please see our photos below of our disco ball, themed charter, which will remain on display throughout the year.
