This term we have introduced a new activity to our Friday afternoons. We have been completing this activity at the end of the day and it is proving to be a super way to end the week on a positive.
We’ve noticed that it’s not always easy to identify something positive about yourself. In order to try and encourage this positive attitude we are trying to identify some positives that have happened to/ for us throughout the week. There were some initial hesitations but as the term is progressing we are finding it easier each time. We are realising that even in these uncertain times there are lots of positives and we have many things to be thankful for and ending the school week with a ‘high five’ is always nice!
On Friday we started our day with Joe Wicks as part of his 24 hour PE challenge for Children in Need.
Even with all of the doors and windows open we still found ourselves working up a sweat as we squatted and did push ups throughout the morning. There was a mixture of enthusiasm and reluctance but with me joining in some who were less tempted were spurred on to participate too.
I hope I wasn’t the only one with some tender muscles later!
This week we have been working within groups to create a spooky story or poem using some key descriptive words. We were hoping to paint a picture for our readers. They have worked well together, planning their activity, we shared all of our creations and assessed each other and ourselves against our own success criteria.
Today we spent the afternoon making our own spooky picture. We learnt how to use the oil and aqua pastels – how to blend them together to create a smooth gradient within our pictures. I think they all did a great job as you can see from the image above.
We made it through term 1 and decided we should celebrate with a movie afternoon. We made our own movie tickets, brought in some movie snacks and settled down for a much deserved, relaxing afternoon watching The Willoughby’s.
There has been a lot of change to deal with this year and the class have adapted to it all so well. They have worked with enthusiasm and taken any changes in their stride. There was a lot of excitement for our last day and I’m delighted to have shared this first term with them.
Enjoy the holidays P4/5 I shall look forward to seeing you all again after the break!
